It's five years this month since the Eurostar began its run from the renovated St. Pancras train station. The station remains a tour-de-force of a hub. This may be the only train station in the UK that feels truly European, and not only because it connects to the European train grid. St. Pancras is densely useable and grand, with a real buzz – like a train station of yesteryear, the sort ...

You can (and should!) get lost for hours looking at his drawings on Flickr with fun anecdotes and scribbles bringing depth and humor to his slice-of-life artwork.

Dec 21st, 2009 at 2:00PM: Most people think "airlines" when the topic turns to the misery of holiday travel. Well, the trains are getting in on the action now. European railway Eurostar's Channel Tunnel train, which connects England and France, is being shut down indefinitely. It's a natural side-effect of having more than 2,000 passengers trapped inside the tunnel for several hours because of technical glitches.

Dec 20th, 2009 at 11:30AM: The Channel Tunnel between France and England will remain closed throughout the weekend as unseasonably cold weather continues to cause travel headaches across northwestern Europe. More than two thousand passengers were stranded in the Channel Tunnel for up to 16 hours on Friday when five Eurostar trains had electrical malfunctions. Thousands more were stuck on either side of the tunnel with no ...

Dec 19th, 2009 at 8:30AM: More than two thousand passengers were trapped in the Channel Tunnel last night when unusually cold weather in northern France made four Eurostar trains break down at the same time. Four trains coming from Brussels and Paris entered the tunnel between France and England and promptly broke down because of the temperature change between the cold air in France and the warm air inside the tunnel. ...

Sep 12th, 2008 at 11:30AM: When my six-year old son and I pulled into Manhattan on the Amtrak train, and again on a Trailways bus last month, we went underground. I'm not sure where Amtrak goes, but Trailways goes through the Holland Tunnel under the Hudson River in order to deposit passengers into Port Authority terminal.
As we passed through the tunnel, --the Holland Tunnel, he wondered why the river didn't come caving ...

Feb 26th, 2008 at 9:00AM: We've all seen the one cent ultra-cheap fares that Ryanair, Easyjet and and other low cost carriers (LCCs) frequently offer from European hubs. It's a great way to skip around the EU if you're flexible and haven't got a lot of cash; it thus has recently become pretty popular with students and vacationers on a limited budget. And as most of us know, the one cent fares come with strings attached. ...

Dec 30th, 2006 at 12:02PM: For those of you fellow train lovers, here's a bit of news. The awesome London-to-Paris Chunnel train, the Eurostar, is moving next year from its home at Waterloo station to the St. Pancras station.
This train is nothing to sneeze at: central London to central Paris in under 3 hours, in quiet, smooth high-speed (186 mph max speed!) luxury, through the Chunnel, for as little as 29.50 pounds ...
