I’m sure some of our Gadling readers are familiar with
Words Without Borders, an excellent online magazine of international
literature. WWB’s mission is to foster literature’s
power as a passport, “…connecting strangers…to places both real and imagined.” They do this by translating some of
the world’s best literature into English so it can be enjoyed by a larger audience.
Each month WWB sends a free email newsletter featuring a
collection of stories, sometimes focused around a
particular place, like November’s issue,
which features several tales from Seoul; or a specific theme, like the
Travels with Literary Masters issue from
March 2005. They categorize fiction, non-fiction and poetry around places (cities, mountains, forests, etc.) and
geographic regions (Pacific Rim, Middle East, Americas, etc.)
And now they have a blog featuring periodic lit notes from
around the world, like this recent one praising the
literary genius of ABBA. Looks like the blog has been
up and running since late summer, so sorry if this is old news to some, but I only noticed it today. It will be cool to
get more frequent updates on global literature happenings.
