Feb 7th, 2012 at 9:00AM: iPads, tablets, Kindles and other tablet devises are making it easier to carry around hundreds of books and the entire internet in slim, lightweight devices. That technology needs to be protected, and, with the DODOcase, you can do it while nostalgically remembering what it was like to carry around an actual notebook. Remember those halcyon days? But a good iPad case is defined by more than its ...

When you're living out of a suitcase, the less items of clothing you have to pack, the better. That's the thinking behind The Versalette, a convertible garment from {r}evolution apparel that easily goes from a shirt to a skirt to a dress to... well, basically anything you can imagine. For a female traveler with a packing list of basic white tees and khaki cargo pants, it's a dream travel piece. ...

Oct 11th, 2011 at 2:00PM: One of the biggest difficulties for the modern traveler in a foreign country is in acquiring smartphone data. Domestic telecom companies, still stuck in the stone age of pricing models charge a ridiculous amount for international data, and horror stories about $85,000 phone bills have flooded the internet.
Without a data plan to download Google Maps or reference the cloud for research, dynamic ...

If you don't want to settle for the speakers in your laptop, but do want something that is easy to pack, then a new speaker product from Altec Lansing may be just what you need. The Orbit USB Stereo builds off the success of their Orbit MP3 speaker (my first ever review on Gadling) but moves up from a single speaker to stereo speakers.
The design is pretty slick - the speakers attach to ...

Pick the odd one out: 5th Ave. Apple Store, Statue of Liberty, Rockefeller Center, Grand Central, Empire State Building.
If you picked the Apple store on 5th Ave. -- you were wrong. Of those landmarks, the Statue of Liberty is the one that does not belong in the five most photographed New York locations. As insane as it may sound, the gorgeous Apple Store is indeed, the fifth most ...

If you like iPad accessories, then the number of available cases for your device will never let you down. Some cases are designed just to make your iPad look better, but others (like the one in this brief review) are made to protect and help make it easier to use your device on the road.
The Handstand case fits snugly around your iPad -- so far, nothing overly different from other cases on ...

Last year, we reviewed the Logitech Alert HD home monitoring system. This easy to use home security system is of course perfect for people who rarely see their home, but still want to keep an eye on what is going on. At its launch, it came with an iPhone and Android app - and last week, Logitech added a fantastic iPad version of the remote software.
When installed on your iPad, you gain ...

Apr 18th, 2011 at 10:00AM: It doesn't matter how upscale your hotel is - the remote for your in-room TV is almost always a filthy non-responsive piece of junk. Research back in 2009 uncovered that most remotes are covered in sperm and urine - which is why I've traveled with a universal remote control for several years.
One new alternative may convince you to carry your own remote as well - assuming you travel with an iOS ...

It has been several years since we last visited our "What's in your pack" segment here on Gadling. As times (and gadgets) have changed, it is time to breath some fresh air into the feature, and we'll start with yours truly.
Lets get something out in the open - I'm a total gadget freak. My gadget needs go way, way beyond the usual "laptop, camera, charger", and it isn't uncommon for my ...

Feb 16th, 2011 at 11:00AM: De Odor Works is a stainless steel ... object, for lack of a better word, which claims to be able to eliminate all bodily odors with nothing more than running water. I have trouble believing this could be true, but hey -- I'm still totally interested. If it works, it could be really helpful on trips to regions where toiletries are hard to come by, and possibly replace some of the everyday ...

Last week, we wrote about iPhone hotel app "Hotel Tonight". When we first mentioned it, hotels could only be booked in New York, San Francisco and Hollywood. Just in time for the big Blizzard of '11, Hotel Tonight has added Chicago, Boston and Washington DC.
Like the other cities, these new options let you pick a hotel room for tonight, and results display several price categories.
For ...

Frequent travelers almost always have a couple of gadgets they consider a "must have" in their technology arsenal - and noise canceling headphones are almost always high on that list. Walk through any premium class cabin, and you'll see row after row of people blocking out the noise of air travel.
In this review, we'll take a closer look at a pair of headphones from audio experts Denon. ...

Jan 14th, 2011 at 11:30AM: I love hoodies, and ever since I was old enough to waddle around in my brother's hand-me-downs (which unfortunately included his tighty-whiteys, until I was old enough to realize that, while my mom's thriftiness was admirable, clothing your daughter in boy's underwear was not), I've worn them. The versatility, quirky style, and marsupial-like comfort a great hoody can provide make it an unbeatable ...

Jan 5th, 2011 at 4:30PM: Idapt chargers have been around for some time now - and their desktop multi-device-chargers are indeed pretty slick.
The company is taking advantage of Consumer Electronics Show to announce a charger that expands off that lineup with a totally green option.
The Idapt i1 Eco turns off when your device is charged, and won't wake up till you press its re-start button. To top off the green part ...

Countor hands-free video cameras are extremely popular in the outdoor world - and rightfully so. Their cameras have captured some of the most extreme outdoor shots ever made. Whether you mount it on your helmet when you go mountain biking, or strap one to the landing gear of a plane, these cameras are designed to survive.
Earlier this year, Contour added GPS to their lineup, and they are ...

Now 2010 is safely behind us, we can take a look back at the ten best tech products to hit store shelves in the past 12 months. And what a 12 months it has been - Android rose to new heights, the iPad became a (totally expected) instant success and more airlines than ever offer inflight Wi-Fi on their entire fleet. T'is a good time to be a traveling geek.
2011 will probably put 2010 to ...

Dec 25th, 2010 at 12:30PM: A funny thing happens to my travel photos after a trip. After uploading select pictures to Flickr or Picasa, my photos often languish unedited (and unseen) on my laptop. I tell myself that when I finally carve out some free time, I'll go back and properly edit the rest of the pictures and create a photo book or scrapbook to remember my vacation.
Unfortunately, the photo folders keep multiplying ...

Amsterdam Airport Schiphol has been considered one of the best airports in the world for as long as I can remember - even when I flew in and out of it every week back in early 80's, Schiphol had some of the best airport shopping of any airport.
In recent years, the airport added a casino, loads of new restaurants, a spa, shower facilities, 2 hotels and a museum.
And now two more ...

The guides are on sale until 1PM December 23rd, so grab them while you can - and remember, even if you don't need them right away, once purchased, you'll always have access to them for free.
Here are the 13 guides (iTunes store links): ...

Motorola has a long and well respected history in Bluetooth headsets. And, if there is one thing they've always excelled at, it is adding innovative features to their products. They were one of the first with a folding boom mic, one of the first to add standardized MicroUSB charger ports to all their headsets, and one of the first with a rugged headset designed to work in extreme environments. ...
