The Museum of Photography in Berlin has just opened an exhibition of nude photos from the turn of the last century.
"The Naked Truth and More Besides Nude Photography around 1900" brings together hundreds of nude photos from an era we normally associate with old-fashioned prudery. In fact, nude photos were incredibly popular at that time. They had existed since the earliest days of the ...

Today is May Day, when the world celebrates the struggles and sacrifices of the common worker. Like this cheese seller in Tupiza, Bolivia, photographed by Gadling's resident cheese expert Laurel Miller. After some hard hours making her product, this woman comes to the market hoping to sell it all before the day is through. She uses a plastic bag on a stick to keep the flies away.
A range of ...

The Faroe Islands are a bit too remote to be on many people's bucket list and that's a shame. Halfway between Scotland and Iceland in the windy north Atlantic, they offer a rugged beauty equal to any adventure travel destination.
This shot from user kanelstrand from Gadling's Flickr pool was taken early one morning after some rain. The mixture of light and shadow, the deep color of the sea ...

Apr 23rd, 2013 at 4:00PM: Love books? You'll want to be in London this June when seven book fairs will all take place over a nine-day period.
Billed as the world's largest book fair in a press release by the International League of Antiquarian Booksellers, it runs June 8-16 and features not only rare books and first editions but also maps, photographs and ephemera.
London has several annual and monthly fairs, but ...

Shanghai is the most populated city in the world, with buildings literally as far as the eye can see, but that's partly because of reduced visibility from pollution. It's hard to believe that this river oasis is located within China's most commercial city. Qibao, one of the oldest towns still remaining within Shanghai, is photographed here by Nelson Ni, who perfectly captured the calm within ...

This Photo of the Day, titled "Sino-Korean Friendship Bridge," comes from Gadling Flickr pool member Bernard-SD, captured with a Cannon EOS 5D Mark II.
Not exactly friendly, it is one of the few ways to enter or leave North Korea. The Sino-Korean Friendship Bridge carries automobile and rail traffic but not people, as pedestrians are not allowed to cross it. Of the image, Bernard-SD ...

As the largest religious monument in the world, Angkor Wat is truly massive, taking hours to get just a cursory view of the temple complex. While it is Cambodia's prime attraction, there are still plenty of corners in which to find your own personal space, which is exactly what this sketch artist is doing inside Banteay Kdei. Known as the "Citadel of Chambers," monks still lived inside up ...

I am partial to a good donkey photo. Something about their sweet eyes makes them instantly loveable, and their inherent goofiness is charming. Today's Photo of the Day caught my eye partially because of the subject, as well as the gorgeous landscape in Croatia behind him, but also because of the caption: "Staying Home." Flickr user mmusnjak explains the donkey was uninterested in joining a ...

This week on Instagram we're off to Sweden, and since I'm at the helm you can expect a lot of bike and food photos. And some good sun shots on ice, because this time of year, in good weather, the landscape can be simply stunning.
With family in Sweden, I have spent a lot of time in the land of pickled herring, meatballs and Abba. It's a place that I come back to in order to refuel, ...

This Photo of the Day, titled "Mount Revelstoke National Park View," comes from one of my favorite Gadling Flickr pool members James Wheeler. I like James' work for more than its visual appeal too. Rather than simply posting a photo (like I do), James adds detail about the gear he used and more. For example, James captions the image:
"Mount Revelstoke national park is one of the few ...

Sometimes on our travels, we come across a scene so perfectly photogenic, we have to wonder if it was staged. Today's Photo of the Day was taken by Flickr user thetravelingteacher in Jakarta's Old Batavia, or Kota, area. What would it look like if you followed your significant other to the ends of the world? That's the theme behind a striking series of photos by Russian video producer Murad Osmann.
