Nov 8th, 2010 at 8:00AM: This may not have been the case a few years ago, but Pyongyang is definitely on its way to becoming a culinary destination ... well, maybe not. Nonetheless, it is pretty wild that the self-isolating regime has let slip some pretty wild information about the dining options available in the capital. If you can finagle a way into North Korea and somehow get yourself a bit of freedom to move, there ...

Oct 18th, 2010 at 2:00PM: Pyongyang has its first hamburger joint, and the locals who can afford it are flocking to the place. With a name rooted firmly in propaganda – not exactly surprising – the restaurant serves distinctly American fare, though I doubt there's a disclaimer on the menu.
Samtaesung, the name of the fast-food spot, translates to "Three Huge Stars," an obvious reference to current leader Kim ...

Sep 22nd, 2010 at 9:30AM: If you kept track of my Shake Shack odyssey a few weeks ago and built up an appetite, you're a few weeks from being able to satisfy it. On October 10, 2010 ... that's 10-10-10, in case you didn't realize it ... the Fairfield Inn & Suites New York Times Square is going to make it easy for you. To celebrate the day of straight 10s, the hotel will give a $10 gift card per room for guests to use a ...

Sep 14th, 2010 at 2:00PM:
The line always seems to be long in Madison Square Park. Shake Shack, known for its burgers as well, always draws a crowd, and it isn't unusual to spend an hour or more waiting to sink your teeth into its greasy delights. I've done it, and I know I'm not alone. Well, the stand's popularity has led to expansion, and there are now four locations across Manhattan, with a fifth in Queens at Citi ...

Aug 10th, 2010 at 3:00PM: For the best hamburgers anywhere around Rabun County, in Northeast Georgia, you'll need to go where the locals go! Tiger Food Mart, on old highway 441, is located at the four way stop in the middle of Tiger, across from the Post Office.
Looking at the Tiger Food Mart, you probably wouldn't expect them to serve food. From the outside, Tiger Food Mart looks like a "run of the mill" combination ...

Aug 1st, 2010 at 4:30PM: Is it a pool or an aquatic buffet?
Vandals made a mess of the Waterworks Waterpark in Prince William County, Virginia, and law enforcement is ready to slap the cuffs on someone. Hamburger patties, fries and pretzels were tossed into the pool, but the nastiest bit was smearing mozzarella cheese on the water slide. Of course, you wouldn't want to put any of this near your lips.
The culinary ...

Jul 29th, 2010 at 10:00AM: There are few reasons to go to Queens. That is, unless you enjoy things like food. One of the five New York City boroughs, Queens is actually the most ethnically diverse county in North America. Which means you can pretty much travel around the world with your taste buds in the matter of a couple subway rides. New York fooderati, for example, know that the best Thai can be found in Queens. ...

Jul 21st, 2009 at 1:00PM: I know I've written a lot about hotdogs, but I'm also a big fan of burgers. I guess my true affinity is for anything that's bad for you. Nothing beats a great dog, but I have room for variety and sometimes crave an amazing burger. In Manhattan, you should look no further than the Parker Meridien on W. 56th St. (or W. 57th St., you can enter from either side).
You're probably thinking about a $20 ...

Aug 25th, 2008 at 11:00AM: When I read Meg's article about the largest burger in the world, I remembered seeing a photo last year of another burger that somehow got stuck in my head. May I present, the "Krispy Kreme Bacon Cheeseburger". I'm not afraid of trying something really unhealthy and I grew up in the village where the deep fried Mars bar was invented, but this just seems too much, even for me. Sadly, you won't be ...

Aug 18th, 2008 at 11:30AM: Have you ever heard of Clearfield, Pennsylvania? Neither have I. But it's not much of a detour off Interstate 80, right in the center of the state, and the little town has a pretty amusing claim to fame. Denny's Beer Barrel Pub in Clearfield is the home of the world's largest hamburgers. According to the Guinness Book of World Records, here is where you'll find the "largest hamburger commercially ...
