May 28th, 2011 at 11:00AM: SeaWorld recently announced plans to build another Aquatica water park. More than just a traditional water park, SeaWorld San Antonio's new Aquatica Texas will include thrilling water slides, serene rivers, a large sandy beach area, and animal encounters.
Among the new water rides, Stingray Rapids sounds the most interesting. The 5 seat raft ride is described as the only one of its kind in the ...

Dec 10th, 2010 at 3:00PM:
Motley Crue drummer Tommy Lee has thought a lot about whale masturbation this week.
Lee contends that to obtain sperm for breeding purposes, SeaWorld has someone "masturbate" Tillikum, a killer whale at the theme park who was responsible for the death of trainer Dawn Brancheau earlier this year.
Lee says it is "sick and twisted," and that it violates SeaWorld's own policies regarding ...

Dec 8th, 2010 at 12:30PM:
Motley Crue drummer Tommy Lee is angry -- really angry -- about the way Shamu is being treated at SeaWorld.
In a letter to SeaWorld Orlando, Lee complains about the methods used by the theme park to obtain sperm from Tillikum - the orca responsible for the death of SeaWorld trainer Dawn Brancheau this spring.
Tillikum was brought to SeaWorld Orlando specifically for breeding purposes in ...

Shamu will get a new show next spring at the SeaWorld parks in Orlando, San Antonio and San Diego.
The killer whale show will replace "Believe," which debuted four years ago. There's no word yet as to whether SeaWorld's killer whale trainers will be in the water with the orcas in the new show.
The trainers have been out of the water since the February death of Dawn Brancheau at SeaWorld ...

Jul 9th, 2010 at 6:00PM: SeaWorld Orlando's Discovery Cove is known as the place where you can swim with the dolphins, but starting in 2011, visitors will be able to swim among sharks, tropical fish and other sea life, as well.
The theme park has not made an official announcement about the reef, but it did confirm the project to the Orlando Business Journal.
The 875,000-gallon saltwater reef project will also ...

Your body language sends a million signals. Happy, sad, mad, afraid, overjoyed, or in the case of this seal, incredibly proud. Roymartin grabbed this shot of a posing seal at Sea World in San Diego, Calif., and just looking at it makes me want to sit up straighter and ring a bell for my butler.
Marine biologists at NOVA have confirmed that seals are among some of the smartest mammals in the ...

Nov 3rd, 2009 at 2:00PM: SeaWorld Orlando doesn't seem to think the economy has suffered enough, because it just raised its prices by $4 to an insane $78.95, per person.
With just six rides and ten shows, SeaWorld assumes people won't have a problem paying this, even though their new prices are just 5 cents lower than neighboring Disney or Universal, who have much more to offer.
Now, I won't argue with anyone who ...

Feb 23rd, 2009 at 7:00PM: Here's a direct quote: "It would be crazy to spend full price to go to Disney right now," said Mary Waring, founder of MouseSavers.com" I found this tidbit in a Practical Traveler article in the New York Times about cheap travel options for a Disney vacation and more.

Jan 15th, 2009 at 9:00AM: The "Bundles of Free Smiles" gig is exactly what you need in this dismal economy. Instead of settling for a disappointing "staycation" (oh, how we all loathe that expression) or digging deep into your pockets for regrettable recreation, the Orlando Convention and Visitors Bureau is giving you six months to pack your bags and get out of town. From now until the end of June, you can check out ...

Oct 24th, 2007 at 9:30AM: If you've got a trip planned to Southern California this weekend, it might be a good idea to reschedule. Besides the current poor air quality and the fact that you might need to outrun a wildfire, many attractions and amusement parks have shut down until the smoke clears. SeaWorld, Legoland, and the San Diego Wild Animal Park are all closed (although the San Diego Zoo remains open). Broadway San ...
