Jan 6th, 2010 at 3:30PM: Ah, Chicago Restaurant Week. One of the few things that will get city residents out of their apartments when the temperature dips into the negative double-digits. From February 19 to 26, over 100 restaurants in the city and suburbs will be offering special prix fixe menus at $22 for lunch and $32 for dinner.

On its face, Continental Airlines' participation in International Restaurant Week seems like just another promotion. Think harder, though, and you'll see that it's really a way for the airline to bring in a little extra cash. Since passengers with a bit of extra girth may be charged for an extra seat, it only makes sense to fatten up fliers and reap the rewards.

Some of the best New York restaurants offer prix-fixe lunch and/or dinner menus a "bargain" deal of $24.07 (lunch) and $35 (dinner). Over 200 restaurants participate. You shouldn't wait to make a reservation -- you can actually do it online now. The best restaurants fill quickly.
