Thought you were going to light up a cig on your next trip to Central Park? Think again! Mayor Michael Bloomberg is trying to get a new measure passed that would prohibit smoking – outdoor smoking – in parks, beaches, marinas, boardwalks and pedestrian areas in New York City, according to the local Fox affiliate.

Jul 25th, 2010 at 2:00PM: Traveling to New York on a budget? Well, you just lost an option. Governor David Paterson just put his signature on a bill banning short-term vacation apartment rentals in New York City. Unless you're renting an apartment for 30 days or longer, you're out of luck. Originally, he said he'd veto the measure.

Jun 3rd, 2009 at 6:00PM: New York was once again the safest city in the United States last year, according to Federal Bureau of Investigation statistics Michael Bloomberg. Well, in fairness, the mayor did cite stats from the FBI. And, he wasn't shy about pointing out that crime fell another 12 percent in the first five months of 2009.
