Pay close attention the next time you ride the London Underground: a group of creative commuters are shaking things up by re-labeling signage inside "the Tube." The subversive street artists are cheering up riders by slightly modifying signs that passengers see over and over again on their daily commutes, including maps and warnings (plus a few of their own creations for good measure).

Officials from the Guinness World Records have been hard at work in London over the past six months. More than 16,000 new record holders have been named as people from across the city attempt to beat more than 20 records. They've done a lot of strange things in order to take over the ranks, including the longest curtsey relay in five minutes, the fastest hula-hooping marathon, the longest ...

A London Tube station that hasn't been used for more than half a century may become the city's newest attraction, the BBC reports.
Brompton Road station on the Piccadilly Line closed in 1934 because it was underused. During World War II, it served as the headquarters of the Royal Artillery's anti-aircraft operations. The station has changed little since then, with much of the wartime ...

Mar 9th, 2011 at 5:00PM: The London underground may be one of the best systems in the world, but overnight service is still something not offered. Sure, there are plenty of late night bus services, and minicabs are usually everywhere, but once the 2012 Olympics come to town, chances are there won't be enough buses to transport everyone.
Transport for London and the union representing tube workers are meeting to discuss ...

Jun 26th, 2009 at 12:30PM: Travelers on the London Underground will soon get a dose of philosophy along with their overcrowding, noise, and proximity to body odor. The Evening Standard has reported that drivers on the Piccadilly line have been issued a book of quotations from famous philosophers to read along with their routine announcements. It's supposed to make the journey go easier. Some of the quotes include, "Nothing ...

Jun 10th, 2009 at 8:30AM: Londoners found themselves walking or taking crowded buses today as a strike continued on the London Underground, popularly known as "The Tube."
The strike started just after evening rush hour Tuesday at 6:59 pm and will last 48 hours. Not all lines have been affected, but most have been and the remaining lines are filled to capacity. For up-to-date information, check Transport for London's ...

Sep 4th, 2008 at 1:00PM: You might have thought that London was already expensive, but next year you can look forward to budgeting even more money when visiting the English capital. Mayor Boris Johnson plans to raise London Underground train and bus fares next year by an average of 6% above the inflation rate. What exactly does that work out to? The cheapest London Underground fare which you can get by using an Oyster ...

Jun 2nd, 2008 at 3:00PM: Labeled "Last Round on the Underground," an orgy of drinking and merry-making yesterday throughout London's famed subway network led to the arrest of 17 people and other dust-ups with local authorities.
Yesterday was the last day before a citywide ban on drinking alcohol on the Tube went into effect. At first, thousands of revelers gathered -- many in costumes -- for parties on the Tube's many ...

The man in the video above found the perfect spot for downhill skiing. The location is clear of skiers and snowboarders, requires no lift ticket, and... lies beneath London? Yes, you read that right. Though, it's not so much a back-country trail as it's the longest escalator in Europe. The footage shows the anonymous skier hurtling down an Up escalator in London's Angel Tube Station. He could ...
