The Strong National Museum in Rochester, New York, is an interactive, collections-based educational institution devoted to the study and exploration of play. Housing the world's most comprehensive collection of historical materials related to play in its National Museum of Play, the Strong recently added the new "LEGO Travel Adventure" exhibit.

They say all art is subjective, and no artform is more contentious than graffiti. Some might say even a detailed mural is defacing public property, while others might consider a bawdy limerick on a bathroom wall to be social commentary. In recent years, artists like Banksy have elevated graffiti to public art. This Lego fellow cleverly rendered in 3-D shows his love for the city of Tel Aviv, ...

Jun 23rd, 2011 at 7:00AM: Professional LEGO builder Ryan McNaught knew that a lot of people would attend the Brickworld LEGO convention in Chicago where his model of TV's Love Boat would be on display. But little did he know that among those visiting Brickworld would be actor Gavin MacLeod, captain of the original Love Boat.
MacLeod, a Princess Cruises ambassador, paid a visit to the convention to surprise McNaught. One ...

Guests came face to face with pure evil at LEGOLAND California. Flanked by his 501st Legion of Storm Troopers, Darth Vader descended upon the park for LEGO STAR WARS Days. The two-day event, which ends today, consists of a number of geek-friendly activities (appealing to a guy like me) including a Droid Hunt, video game battles, building, trivia competitions and a costume contest.
According to ...

I wish these existed when I was a kid, and I have to admit, I'm even kicking around going as an adult. The Atlantis is offering three five-day LEGO workshops this July. Kids will get the chance to work with a LEGO Master Builder in hands-on challenges. And, parents can play at the same time. The program is designed to help families spend time together and express their creativity.
The program ...

Feb 4th, 2010 at 11:00AM: If London has whet your appetite for all things English, hop on a train and visit Windsor. Less than an hour from central London, this historic city is one of the easiest and most popular day trips for foreign visitors. You can also enjoy a nice stroll to nearby Eton and visit the famous boarding school.
The main attraction is, of course, Windsor Castle. It's one of the official residences of ...

I'd normally be skeptical about another theme park opening in Florida. Does the state really need another one? But, when I saw the announcement from Merlin Entertainments, I changed my mind very quickly. After all, every city should have a LEGOLAND®. By the end of 2011, Winter Haven, Florida will open in this new attraction, which will sit on 145 acres that is currently home to Cypress ...

Jan 9th, 2010 at 1:00PM: The first looks at the world's first LEGO® water park were revealed recently at LEGOLAND California Resort. So far, it's only an artist's rendering of the new water park, but that's the first step toward getting drenched.
This new initiative follows the park's successes with the new Bob the Builder™ 4-D movie and the presidential inauguration scene in Miniland U.S.A. These new ...

Nov 15th, 2009 at 8:00AM: The World Heritage Sites are some of the most amazing places on the planet. The list, maintained by UNESCO, spotlights places from around the globe that hold particular cultural or natural significance. Many of the places on the list are amongst the top tourist attractions in the world, so what better way to do them honor, then to replicate them with Legos? Eco-friendly website Environmental ...

Nov 1st, 2009 at 3:00PM: I haven't been to southern California in a while, but it looks like I just got a reason to go back. A Legoland hotel is in the works at the theme park of the same name in Carlsbad, California. The city council approved the move this week. When construction is finished, a serpentine-shaped hotel will have 254 rooms, sit right next to the theme park and put Lego-loving nerds like me in the middle of ...

Oct 7th, 2009 at 4:00PM: More than 30 feet tall and made of a quarter of a million forest green DUPLO® bricks, the LEGOLAND® Christmas tree is by far the most fun in the United States. Regular trees die, and most plastic trees are so ... well ... plain – they just look like trees. The LEGOLAND tree, on the other hand, is something to be celebrated. At 5:30 PM on November 30, 2009, Tori Spelling McDermott (of ...

Jan 22nd, 2009 at 1:00PM: While President Barack Obama took the oath of office in Washington, D.C., his counterpart did the same in Carlsbad, CA. While the west coast ceremony was a bit rough around the edges, the blockhead appears to have done just fine. LEGOLAND® California is celebrating our new president with a new display, running until Memorial Day, May 25, 2009. Visitors to this theme park can enjoy the ...

Sep 1st, 2008 at 8:00AM: Several days ago, I posted my review of the recently opened Legoland Discovery Center in the Chicago suburb of Schaumburg. If you read my review and would like to spend a day surrounded by Lego with your family, then keep reading, as we have some free tickets to give away! The Legoland Discovery Center is located about 20 miles from downtown Chicago. Parking is free, and in this indoor venue, ...

Aug 26th, 2008 at 11:00AM: Last month, Lego opened its first US based Legoland Discovery Center in the Chicago suburb of Schaumburg. This large indoor venue is home to 8 Lego themed attractions, and should provide some Lego fun for visitors young and old. In the name of scientific research, I visited Legoland during their "soft opening" week at the end of July. The location is right next to Woodfield Mall, and is in the ...
