Oct 28th, 2009 at 2:30PM: The San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge will be closed indefinitely while crews repair an upper-deck cable that snapped during rush-hour on Tuesday evening. According to the AP, the broken cable and a chunk of bridge metal fell onto the westbound lanes, damaging at least one vehicle.
The cable that snapped was put in last month to repair a crack that was discovered over Labor Day weekend. While the ...

Aug 3rd, 2009 at 4:00PM: I just completed a whirlwind tour of the Pacific coastline this past week and within a few days I got a taste of some pretty eye-popping roadside attractions along Route 101. While most of the sights I discovered were pretty kitschy, there were other natural wonders that inspired at least one or two ooo's and ahh's. While I'd like to say I drove the whole thing, I have to admit that I was only ...

Nothing is more quintessentially San Francisco than the iconic Golden Gate Bridge -- and the fact that it eclipses the moon in this stunning shot by Bay Area resident ohadby makes this photo all the more breathtaking. Add the moon's white glimmer on the water and the sparkle of city lights in the background and he's captured night and this place in all its glory. If you have some great travel ...

Feb 6th, 2009 at 1:00PM: I'm pretty sure I'm not alone when I say I "love" the Eiffel Tower - how can you not enjoy such a magnificent structure? The design, the sheer beauty of it, and the atmosphere around the tower in such an awesome city make it one of the most popular landmarks in the world. But there are some people who take their love of the structure just a tad too far. That is what Erika La Tour Eiffel has done. ...

This has to be one of the most beautiful shots of San Francisco's Golden Gate Bridge that I've ever seen, and that includes the one in the opening credits of Full House. Nice going, jrodmanjr!

Aug 21st, 2008 at 3:00PM: Many people are surprised by the cold, foggy weather that a San Francisco summer can deliver. But jrodmanjr made the most of it and snapped this great shot of the Golden Gate bridge. This just might be that 'bridge to nowhere' we've all heard about. Are you a Flickr user who'd like to share a travel related picture or two for our consideration? Submit it to Gadling's Flickr group right now! We ...

I must be in a message kind of mood. Three weeks ago, I picked a photo with a message on the side of a building. This message snapped by Willy Volk also caught my attention. This is a view of the Golden Gate Bridge that I haven't seen before. I walked across the Golden Gate years ago, but don't recall the signs. The one thing that would be a handy thing to have included on this sign is a phone ...

May 3rd, 2006 at 9:39AM: While we're on the topic of California and their activism, let's go there briefly via a lovely panoramic photo
taken at the Golden Gate Bridge. The good, and always politically active, folks in the Bay Area came together on
Sunday, April 30, to stage a hand-holding vigil at the bridge to
raise awareness about the problems in Darfur. Yes, there they were, the passionate multitudes, singing ...
