Jun 11th, 2011 at 10:04AM: American Eagle's sold-out inaugural flight arrived in Mazatlan, Mexico (MZT) from Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) this week. The move supports tourism authorities that say Mexico is safe for travel. As Mexico struggles to repair it's image and shift international focus from drug-lord induced crime headlines to business-as-usual, American's new daily flight was welcomed with open ...

Ahh... travel. It can be such a magnificent, wonderful thing. Exploring other cultures, visiting beautiful destinations, and sampling local cuisines are all magically sublime experiences. But when things don't quite go as planned, it can be an extremely frustrating affair. One that makes us wonder why we ever left home in the first place.
I received a sobering reminder of this little fact ...

Feb 8th, 2011 at 12:00PM: You'd think that world-traveler Pamela Anderson would know about airport security, taking off shoes and possible pat-down procedures prior to boarding an aircraft. Apparently not we see as Anderson, 43, was asked to remove black thigh-high boots to clear security recently.
Being a well-known celebrity does not exempt Anderson and others from the same airport security protocols as anyone else. ...

Dec 15th, 2010 at 12:00PM: Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport is about to get a little sexier. The seventh-busiest airport in the world, with more than 5.7 million passengers passing through it every year (as of 2008), will soon be home to a new gentlemen's club.
Now, I know what you're thinking: "airport" strip clubs are usually heinous places. Not far from the airport, they usually attract the lowest of talent and ...

If you've been reading Gadling in the last week, you're probably aware that Virgin America launched their first mid-continent destination just one week ago in the heart of Texas. Now, see what it's like to shake hands with Richard Branson and be on the inside of a Virgin America launch event - bulls, barbecues, bandanas & all.
Special thanks to the W Dallas-Victory, Winspear Opera ...

I don't think I actually understood the implications of Virgin America's launch into "fortress-hub" Dallas/Fort Worth until we touched down on the tarmac.
As we taxied to our gate, I could see nothing but a endless row of silver fuselages; all adorned with the iconic blue & red "AA" logo. It felt almost as if we were silently making our way through the front gates of a modern-day Troy. ...

Watch out Dallas; the original maverick has come to town. Today, Virgin America officially kicked off its brand new service from LAX & SFO to Dallas Fort Worth with an inaugural flight & tarmac reception hosted by Sir Richard Branson and Dallas mayor, Tom Leppert.
With live bulls in a pen and a sign that read "Don't fly like cattle", Virgin America made their message very clear; ...

Taking your car to the airport is usually a hassle - high parking rates, strict cops that refuse to let you wait more than 2 minutes in front of the terminal, and of course pesky toll collectors. At DFW airport, Yasmine Villasana really wanted to leave as quickly as possible - because she attempted to take off using the barrier at the toll plaza.
Upon landing, she managed to get out of her ...

Nov 22nd, 2009 at 3:00PM: Contract negotiations between American Airlines and its flight attendants have stalled. So, the flight attendants kicked off a fake strike on Wednesday. At Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport, they picketed, handed out leaflets and wore red badges, showing flights they feel couldn't run without them. So, just think of how strong a real strike would have been! Similar protests were held at 12 ...

Sep 17th, 2009 at 9:00AM: It's hard to see how the machinations of Wall Street affect the end consumer, sometimes. In the case of American Airlines and its recent pickup of $2.9 billion, you can draw a straight line from the money to the exit row.
The hefty infusion, a risky move because revenues are down and this is not a trivial amount of debt, has already prompted announcements of schedule changes ... for the better. ...

Mar 4th, 2009 at 11:00AM: It's starting to look like we'll soon need a "stupid passenger of the week" segment here on Gadling, because there certainly does not seem to be a shortage of material. The stupid passenger for today was on his way on American Airlines from Charlotte to Dallas Fort Worth when the plane was waiting for a spot at its assigned gate. Apparently this wait was a bit too long, so instead of grumbling ...

Apr 28th, 2008 at 9:00AM: I can't wait for our one European destination to come back to Boston in May. These crack of dawn departures don't fit my circadian rhythm at all. I'm convinced in fact, that when I retire I may never again see the sun rise. That said, it's just so amazing to walk down the jet bridge and out the side door to start the preflight inspection and see the sunrise shining down the polished fuselage just ...
