Jun 6th, 2011 at 5:30PM: Citing mechanical problems, an American Airlines flight en route to China dumped 151,000 pounds of fuel over Lake Michigan on Sunday night.
According to an American Airlines spokesman, the fuel was dumped over the freshwater lake after an emergency forced the plane to return to Chicago's O'Hare International Airport about 90 minutes after departing for Beijing. The fuel had to be dumped because ...

May 25th, 2011 at 2:30PM:
Virgin America is taking its mood-lit flights to the Midwest. Today the airline kicks off service from San Francisco and Los Angeles to Chicago O'Hare, and Gadling is joining the airline for its inaugural celebration.
To celebrate the new service, Virgin is offering Chicago flyers a $25 Groupon deal for $100 in air travel, discounting one-way fares as low as $59, and gifting triple ...

Apr 25th, 2011 at 1:30PM:
In May, Virgin America will begin flying to Chicago O'Hare from Los Angeles and San Francisco. To celebrate their service to an airport traditionally dominated by legacy carriers, Virgin is rolling out a social media contest to entice travelers to "put the smack down on everyday air travel."
The contest invites Chicagoans to submit a photo or video via the Virgin America Facebook fan page ...

Jan 19th, 2011 at 10:30AM: Mexican food authority, cookbook author, cooking show host, Top Chef Master, and all-around culinary badass Rick Bayless debuted his new O'Hare eatery, Tortas Frontera, over the weekend.
As its name implies, Tortas Frontera is devoted to the deliciously messy Mexican sandwiches, here served on bread from nearby Labriola Baking Company. Alas, as reported by Grubstreet, it's located past security ...

Dec 10th, 2010 at 12:00PM: There are a whole lot more of us flying this year: 4.3 percent more, to be exact. That's the increase in domestic air traffic from September 2009 to September 2010, according to the latest data from the U.S. Department of Transportation. In that month, U.S. airlines had 57.3 million passengers, leading to the largest year-over-year gain since September 2007. Meanwhile, international passenger ...

Aug 18th, 2010 at 4:30PM: If you have ever flown into Chicago's O'Hare airport, you'll know that the train ride between the airport and downtown is not a great experience. Sure, it'll get you where you need to be, but when compared to other major international airports, it could really do with an upgrade.
So, once again, Mayor Daley has dusted off the plans to launch a premium rail link connecting Downtown with the ...

Jul 3rd, 2010 at 12:00PM: Chicago's Mayor Daley has come up with a creative way to deal with his constant budget issues - introduce alcohol carts at Chicago O'Hare. The plan would allow current liquor license holders to sell booze at spots where there are no nearby restaurants or bars.
Thankfully, the idea isn't as controversial as plans to sell booze at the baggage claim area, like McCarran in Las Vegas, but in a day ...

Mar 20th, 2010 at 11:00AM: Delta airlines just announced the introduction of 22 new daily flights between Chicago and New York. The new flights will be operated as Delta Shuttle flights, and will start June 10th.
The new hourly service out of O'Hare replaces current Delta flights between Chicago Midway and LaGuardia.
Delta obviously means business - because they are also going to offer free coffee and newspapers at ...

Jul 2nd, 2009 at 11:05AM: United Airlines is currently experiencing some major delays and cancellations at Chicago O'Hare. The computer systems responsible for checking you in, are down and passengers have to be manually processed the old fashioned way. Most delays are between 2 to 3 hours, but many flights are also being canceled because of the glitch. United has issued a travel waiver for tickets issued for travel ...

Jun 16th, 2009 at 8:30AM: If you are flying across the country, or heading abroad, then chances are you'll be passing through O'Hare International Airport. The airport itself is not a horrible place to be, but it is hardly the kind of location you'd want to spend a large portion of your day. As an international gateway to (or from) the United States, O'Hare is pretty unimpressive. So, if you find yourself stuck at the ...

Jan 25th, 2009 at 9:00AM: Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport leads the list of the busiest airports in the United States ... again. According to a report by the Federal Aviation Administration, it was home to 978,084 takeoffs and landings in 2008. That's a 1 percent drop from the year before but still indicates that the tarmac was awfully busy. Chicago O'Hare followed with 881,566, down 5 percent from 2007, ...

Sep 9th, 2008 at 11:30AM: Frequent and casual travelers have their favorite airports. The ones that are easy to navigate and usually not too crowded always make the list. And then there are those airports where you have to use all your willpower just to deplane. These sprawling terminals are usually inhabited by a staff whose goal in life is seemingly to make your trip through their turf as nightmarish as possible. ...
