California Off-Road Racing Resumes Week After Tragic Event {Fanhouse Motorsports Blog}
Sep 24th 2010 3:50AM In the 1980's I was a volunteer EMT for off road motorcycle, off road vehicle races in CA, where I reside along with races in Nevada and Baja, Mexico. I even volunteered for one SCORE event, the Baja 500. The only places where I ever noticed viewers getting too close, was at the major pit stops and in eight years the only injury that occured in the area marked off as mine, as we were allowed to go down the course with the Riders/Drivers, were provided with red flashing lights to put on top of our 4 wheel off road trucks. In the incident my teammate and I had gotten a respond order with where the downed off road truck had been in the back and didn't see the turn and went straight, hit a huge rock and his truck flipped sixty feet in the air, hitting the ground upside down,with the rollbar crushing the Driver's helmet. His Co-Driver dragged him from the truck, which after we radioed to the Main EMT site, that we had a driver down with a possible neck and or back injury and needed a hel 500. We received a message back saying it would be at least two hours, so we managed to stabilize the teenager who was scared to death on a backboard, and I told him trying to get his mind off what just happened to him that he was in for the ride of his life, placing his head between my legs to further stabilize his neck and spine and I had his Co-Driver sit over him, but not on him and told him to hold his hips in place no matter how rough the thirty minute ride to where an ambulance was waiting for us. We always ensured the crowds were pushed back at the major pit stops if they were in our assigned area on the off road race track.
Psychic Sylvia Browne on Ghosts, Angels, Men and Her New Book {Lemondrop}
Jun 13th 2010 7:34PM As for Sylvia, I only hear what she tells people on talk shows and don't have a clue as to whether she is right or wrong because we dont't know what happens unless those people she gave a prophecy to are our friends.
When I was younger, I was more of an empath. I knew if something good or bad was going to happen, just not to who, except the bad feelings were usually related to me. One night when driving home all of a sudden I got the chills, and saw everything turn blood red. Found out the next morning that a family friend of my parents had been rolled as he stumbled out of a bar, was drunk and got picked up by two guys, who later shot him and put him in their trunk. When they realized he was still alive, they burned the car and rolled it into a river in Pittsburg as he was there for company business. At the exact moment he died, was when I saw the blood red. The night before my son was to get married, his friends had taken him out on the town. He was in the Army in Washington state and we had driven up for the wedding. At the exact moment he got shot, I was awakened by severe abdominal pain so bad, when I got out of bed, I fell on the floor. About thirty minutes later, I got the phone call from my ex- that our son had been shot. Luckily he survived and was shot in the back and was shot with 44 magnum, and as the doctor told us, by all rights he should have been dead. Had he moved just less than a half inch either way, he would have been paralyzed from the waist down or would have bled out, and the only damage he suffered was his small intestine had been nicked. I would be with friends and tell them someone we knew would be showing up and I was always right, to the point a few of my friends told me I freaked them out. It used to get to me and unfortunately, I guess I shut down the feelings I would get. I just called it woman's intuition or a sixth sense, not that I was a Psychic because unlike Psychics, I couldn't tell a person what would happen to them or tell them not to do certain things. It was spooky to deal with for about 15 years, and I often regret shutting down that ability I had, albeit vague compared to what Psychics or supposed Fortune Tellers seem to tell people.

Jun 13th 2010 7:16PM I think it's terrible for you to put Farrah Fawcett's picture and compare her aging. If anyone has suffered like she has, they don't come out looking like they did thirty years ago. Men age worse then women do. When I went to a HS Reunion recently, I couldn't recognize the few guys that showed. Everyone one of them had pot bellies and looked much older than they were. Of course if anyone smokes and drinks a lot, they are going to look terrible. Statistics have shown us how both, especially smokers age, and in women, it''s not nice. Their voices become very masculine sounding and gravely. Unfortunately, by the time they realize the damage it can do to them, the damage has been done. Men who work out when younger and overdevelop their muscles, as they age, most spend less and less time at the gym, and the once strong arms and legs and abdomen, have all turned to flab. Women today, look much better than their mothers or grandmothers at the age, especially women in their 50's and 60;s today, don;t look like their mothers or grandmothers. .
Even without plastic surgery, there are a lot of anti-aging creams that do seem to hold age at bay. Unfortunately for both men and women, unless you have the money to stop gravity from taking over, everything sags on us all. It's part of the aging process unfortunately. But to compare someone who is suffereing from terminal cancer and all they have been through, they are not going to look like they did thirty years ago, and believe you should remove them from this list,. You try extending your life by taking chemo and undergoing radiation therapy, often for years to hold the cancer at bay, do not age well, and to put them on this list is rude and uncalled for.
Why Am I Getting Spam from Myself? {AOL Mail Blog}
Jun 2nd 2010 11:44PM Boy, do you have that right. I have been trying to figure out how I am getting mail supposedly from myself to myself. It is frustrating and I am afraid to open it and most of the time don't. I get it on my main aol account and a secondary one I use, and I am afraid to delete my main one. I think I will change my passwords and see if that helps. It's not a lot, maybe two or three a week, and since my email is out of control right now, it would be less than that if I kept it up. Let's hope AOL's points are what will solve what could be a discerning problem on my computer.
Herbal Supplements Often Have Contaminants, Study Shows {AOL Health}
Jun 1st 2010 2:39AM Jim, not all herbal remedies are bad. I suffer from a severe and debilitating and painful, pain syndrome, and early in my treatment because the pain is often the worst in the first stages, my excellent Pain Physician wanted me to see a Psychiatrist to help me learn to deal with the pain, although he was doing all the medical things they have in their bag of tricks for this disease along with prescribing pain meds. On the McGill Pain Scale, a patient with RSD's pain is double that of a cancer patient, although I would never compare my pain to anyone else's because if you are hurting, it affects you and your life, so to quantify people's pain is ridiculous. The Psychiatrist tried me on two anti-depressants which caused severe side effects and they were stopped. Because his speciality was Psychiatric Pharmacology, he wrote me two prescriptions for two "drugs" which were then Herbal supplements, that two years later became OTC. They were for Ginko Biloba and Valerian Root. He said in all his research and stuies, these two herbal remedies did what they were reported to do. The Ginko Biloba helps keep your mental status up and more alert and I took the Valerian Root at bedtime because of it's calming effect. It is not related to Valium in any, shape or form, which many people wrongly believe, it's name is only similar and it has the same calming effect as Valium does, only not as strong.
Look at the only FDA approved OTC drug for weight loss, Alli, it's been discovered now to cause liver failure and death, yet it's not been pulled from the shelf. I tried it two different times, the first for three days and after a few days to make sure it was not related to a possible infection, I tried it again, this time for two days, and again, became very ill. Needless to say, my money was wasted, and obviously the FDA didn't do a thorough enough testing on the OTC diet drug before approving it for OTC patients. I did lose about 8 lbs, but chalked it up to being so sick and not eating for almost two weeks. All one has to do when put on prescription meds, is research it and a large number of them can cause severe side effects including death, so those meds I refuse to take. Birth Control pills are well known to cause heart attacks, stroke and even death, yet women continue to take them. It's all a patient's choice as far as I am concerned, how it makes you feel and the minute any herb or drug makes you sick, contact your Physician immediately. You could talk to 100 different doctors and get 100 different responses, so listen to your body when in doubt.
Love Advice -- My Boyfriend's a Cheating Fool {Lemondrop}
Nov 15th 2009 6:19AM I was involved in a relaitonshape with a fireman (should have been my first cliue) that he was separated from his wife and they were divorcing. I met him in Baja, MX during a bicycle ride. We were both the same age, and he loved doing all the same outdoor things I did. He even got my daughter a Halloween card which I thought was a nice thought and when he wasn't working his shifts, he was at my house after he went to see his three kids and would soon be at my house waiting for me.
Then wifey poo figured out he wasn't begging to come back, he called me and said he had something to show me. Right away I knew what it was, it was full of I am sorry I treated you so badly all these years, but want you back. Why he showed it to me was horrible. I could care less about how she felt, and even worse that I believed him and how well we got along. He asked if he could call me and I thought about it and said he could call, but that was all.
I did miss him and don't believe in infidelity, but called him and said I couldn't take not seeing him, my second big mistake. We saw each other for two more months, when we went on a ski trip, taking HER CAR instead of my 4 X 4 truck. As I waited for him to get gas, I knew I didn't have the strength to leave him, and noticed my purse had fallen open and my checkbook laid in front of me. I took a deposit ticket, tore it in half with my name on it, and put the other half in my purse. She found it like I knew she would, and that ended that.
What angers me most about women judging women who get involved with separated or married men, is we have no way to find out for sure what he is telling us is the truth. We even went to the Dodgers game when they last won the title in 1988, and he slowly pulled me away from where they were taping people going in saying he wanted to get in so we could get settled. He didn't want his wife nor kids seeing us together.
They forget we didn't take the wedding vows, he did with her, and because of my beliefs and knew what I was doing was wrong, I ended it right then and there. If he was doing it to her, if we had got together, would he do it to me? The answer is probably yes, she may have won the war, but I won the biggest battle of all, the loss of trust. It hurt, but I knew seeing him after he went back to her was wrong, and it hurt when I knew I had to end our relationship, as he seemed to have his cake and eat it too. One of his friends who was also a fireman told us (there were three of us who drove down from Los Angeles), he liked to meet women down there sometimes for a fun time. Clue number one I had forgotten about. It hurt not to see him, but would have hurt more if we had gone on longer playing his game.
So before women judge those of us who get involved with men who tell us they are separated, after all, when he wasn't working, he was with me, I did believe they were going through a divorce. He was lamenting about all the wood shelves he built in the house, poot baby. Remember we didn't take the wedding vows with him, he did with a wife who didn't want him, that was until she figured out he wasn't begging to come home. Kind of a wake up call to her, when we went water skiing in MY boat, and snow skiing in the winter. Things she didn't like to do, and what was breaking them up. So don't blame us for breaking them apart, he was the one doing the breaking apart when she made it clear he could only come to the house to get his clothes or see their kids. I knew I could not compete with 17 years of marriage and three kids, and did what I knew was the right thing to do, leave the cheater for someone else and I am sure, by then she had her hooks back into him again, making him miserable, they deserved each other. I certainly learned my lesson, the hard way, but better to have it break up before I got hurt anymoe and he would be in a miserable marriage.
Michelle Duggar: The Ultimate Reality TV Mom's Parenting Tips {ParentDish}
Jun 27th 2009 2:19PM There are 18 children and youir post Rpsie was great. They don't "expect": the older children to raise the younger children, but only that they help in the home, and if it means changing a baby diaper or giving younger siblings baths, then so be it. These kids all know they are loved, they have been homeschooled, which I don't always thnk is a good idea because there is often little interface, but because they have so many kids, they have plenty of children to play wth. These kids are healthy, happy and know they are loved and are nothing like the Gossinglings. Each one was wanted and the family gets to choose the name of the next little one due.
Like Michelle says, her child bearng years are probably coming to an end in a few short years and the older a Mother gets, the higher the risk of an infant being born with Down's Syndrome.
The kids all dress so great and dob't seem to resent having to help Mom with the younger ones, and I think that is why their oldest son and new wife, know they will have plenty of help when they have their baby.
Before the 20th century, most families were always big and the younger children were expected to help with the younger ones. Both of my parents came from families where there were six children on each side. It helps teach them responsibility along with them realizing the world does not revolve around each child but around the family as a whole. I enjoy watching the interplay between the parents and children. She always has a smile on her face, she never gets a flustered by her children, never yells or threatens to go crazy like Kate does every week.
Because young people who watch this show find it unusual the older kids help with the younger kids, read about 18th and 19th century families and you will learn back then boys were expected to help with the farm or family. Perjaps many of you are just jealous of such a happy familg
Spokesperson fiasco #6: Kirstie Alley and Jenny Craig {BloggingStocks}
Jul 19th 2008 12:17PM Jenny Craig's diet only works when you are on it because it's their food, it's prepackaged, and to be honest, tastes terrible. People on diets need to find ones that allow "real food", foods that don't cause their body to gain weight and learning to eat properly, like six meals a day, and I don't mean food piled on the plate, but well portioned food.
I really related to the person who said she had always been thin until she became ill and gained 100 lbs. I was in great shape from being physically active, until I got struck down by two chronic pain sydromes, and one prevents me from even taking a daily walk due to the damage it's caused one of my feet.
I will agree that nothing turns me off more than when I see someone over 300 lbs. squeezing into a booth to eat a meal for four people, as that weight is their problem.
There are people like me who have very slow metabolisms, and when you get slammed with an illness, the weight is on you before you realize it. I keep hearing on TV to exercise this, walk this many miles, but what if your body can't due to your illness?? What are you supposed to do then?
Learn to eat better I am learning and eat proper foods, no fattening baked potatoes smothered in butter (yes I used to be guilty of that) but not any longer. I am eating lean chicken, turkey and all the fish I want.
So please don't look at someone overweight and assume they eat everything but the kitchen sink. I rarely eat candy, have never liked chocolate, thankfully. If you see them eat for four people at one time, then one can say it is their fault, but if their plate is one with small portions and healthy food, you know they are trying, so be supportive, not judgemental. And not everyone has the same metabolism. I went to HS with a gal who could out eat the guys, and years later, she is far heavier than I am. As we age, our metabolism slows down, and for some of us like me, mine has always been slow, and yes my Thyroid tests are normal, I just have a slow metabolism when it comes to food.
At least Kirstie tried, and she lost 75 lbs, although towards the end of her year, I could see she was putting it back on slowly. You just can't eat those prepackaged diet plans.
They are costly when you have to eat their awful tasting food. and when I told them I am lactose intolerant, they almost didn't take me, as you have to drink milk, which I have never liked as a child as it gave me a stomach ache. My mother could never figure out why her house plants anways died, LOL, I somehow figured out plants don't like milk either.
Ignore the world Kirstie and live your own life for you.
Leave Mike Huckabee Alone! {Politics Daily}
Mar 2nd 2008 7:09PM Hang in there Mike Huckabee. You may just win the bid by default, because of McCain being born in Panama. My son was born in Japan, on a military base hospital, to a man in the Navy and a new, stay at home Mom. We were told and given paperwork with each child's birth, that there were two things they could never do and (1) was become President of the US and (2) hold either an FCC or FAA license. I have forgotten the second one. Every couple that had a child born in the military hospital was given that information, therefore, MCCain cannot legally run for the office of President. I am sure his parents were given the same information we were.
When Should Hillary Clinton Drop Out? {Politics Daily}
Feb 22nd 2008 12:42AM DAVID SMITH, regarding your comment, in case you haven't noticed, people have come out in record numbers in every state, which hasn't happened I think since the Reagan years, when he took the nation by a landslide. Hawaii has never had this many people come out and Democrats are well known for staying in when the weather is bad, but it hasn't kept any home. The Democratic Party is tearing itself apart by bringing up the "Super Delegates" which I think should be banned. Let's SEE HOW AMERICA VOTES, and then should their State delegate count be so close, the Super Delegates be the last ditch, wait and see what the POPULAR VOTE is. It started out with blacks voting for Obama and women voting for Clinton, both for the very wrong reason, but as we hear him talk, more and more Americans are realizing he is THE candidate, and the only one who can beat McCain.
Plus there are a lot of Republicans, including myself who think McCain is a loose cannon and would have us in a war with N. Korea, Iran and China given the opportunity.
Why is Hillary Clinton so blantantly fighting showing her Tax Returns? Only people who have something to hide do what she is doing, not to mention Bill Clinton's, successful battle, so far anyway, to withhold 10,000 pages of documents on good ole Hillary. What is she hiding that he doesn't want the people of the United States to see, and I would think if she is touting being so open and honest, why is she being just the opposite?
There are a lot of Americans who have not forgotten Bill Clinton's infidelity to her, in the White House no less. Nor have a lot of us forgotten White Water, and are we going to wind up with a Co-Presidency if she is elected as the Dem Candidate? And if she were not the wife of Bill Clinton she would have been laughed out of being a candidate long ago, whe is riding his coat tails merely because he has some kind of charisma some Americans can't separate her from him.
Out of the top three candidates, Obama is going to come out on top. Don't forget all the States where we are forced to vote as we are Registered, like in California, which is a delegate rich state, and I, for one will not for for McCain. There is a lot about him that has not come out yet, and he has a long history in the Senate of losing his temper in an instant, and wife, always looks to him as if for permission to speak. She reminds me of a Barby Doll, and McCain is her sugar daddy. What is her background? I don't even know because I have never heard her speak, except to say "I have always been proud to be an American" and I sincerely believe Michelle Obama's words came out not like she intended. It's called open mouth, insert foot, and there isn't a person in this world that hasn't done it at least once in their lifetime. And I have always voted a straight Republican ticket, until this year, and my vote won't be for McCain nor Clinton.
Hillary hasn't even talked to General Petreus in Iraq and Afghanistan nor military advisors who openly say it would be an impossible task to bring our troops home in 60 days and Obama seems to be the only one who realizes that and has set a sixteen month timne line. What they say and want, certainly will not be what they spouted during the campaign, because everyone seems to forget without Congress backing them, like Congress letting the time frame for tapping phone lines expire. They can say all they want and INTEND TO DO, but unless Congress agress with them, it "ain't gonna happen."
And why should we vote if the Delegates make the choice for the candidate? Why should we vote if the Electoral College makes the ultimate decision, the 2004 election is a prime example of that. Bush didn't win with the popular vote if I remember correctly, but the Electoral College did, but I may be mistaken on that point. America needs to get rid of deletages and the Electoral College and listen to how Americans vote.
