May 15th 2010 7:00AM I was an intern. Internships aren't ONLY TRAINING GROUNDS. When one is an intern they do the drudgery work, as well as sometimes what their chosen profession is. It's a way for someone to NETWORK, to meet folks. After graduation, the folks they met and may have "worked" with will remember and hire them. It's sort of like the cliche "earning your stripes". So please, don't think your daughter had to "learn" her craft as an intern. Maybe another way to put it is that it's more a a "proving ground", and employers will "see what you are made of". I know that for myself as a owner, if someone does menial volunteer work for me, you bet I will pay them when handsomely when they graduate.

May 15th 2010 6:52AM Hey folks. Inters OFTEN do jobs that are paying. I worked at a TV station in college. Did I get paid, NOOOOOOOOOOO. Did I run camera, work in master control, etc. YESSSSSSSSSSSSSS. Did this connecion pay off???? YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS. If both sides know that the intern job is unpaik, cool. If one feels like they don't like it hello, LEAVEEEEEEEE.
