Chubby, Stubbly Geeks? The Secret Guy 'Types' Women Lust After {Lemondrop}

Feb 26th 2010 5:43AM I certainly fit the top version. Is it wrong that as I read the rest of the list, I felt the desire to pound half of the guys in the face for being douches?

Meghan McCain - Size 8 Is Not Fat {That's Fit}

Mar 16th 2009 6:55PM Wait a minute...someone who uses "Limpballs" and "Coldturd" calling out *anyone* on maturity levels? Seriously?

Mother Sentenced for Attacking Sex Offender {ParentDish}

Mar 2nd 2009 10:00PM What kind of jury convicted this woman? No jury where I live would have voted to convict her of any crime.

Bowl Selection Special: Oklahoma and Florida, BCS Championship First Look {Fanhouse NCAA Football Blog}

Dec 8th 2008 1:48AM I have ties to both schools (got a MA at OU, grew up near Gainesville and am now working on a PhD here). I think UF will win the game comfortably. Both have unbelievable offenses and are capable of scoring at any time from anywhere on the field. UF's defense is better, and UF's special teams are better. OU under Stoops has long had special teams as a weakness. It has been one of UF's strengths under Meyer. Florida only has to stop the Sooners a couple of times to win, and I think they will.

(Though in the end, I'll have my choice of t-shirts to wear the day after the game either way)

Air Canada passenger sues over spill {Gadling}

Oct 21st 2008 10:01PM There is no way the McDonald's coffee melted through the cup. At the time of that suit, I managed a Burger King. Not long after the original decision (prior to the award reduction on appeal) someone sued our franchisee on similar grounds. Just for fun one night I did an experiment, and found that in order for styrofoam to melt, it needs to be roughly 300 degrees. Since water boils at 212, I don't see how it's possible.
Plus, even assuming for the sake of argument that it is possible, it would've melted when the worker poured the coffee into the cup, rather than waiting until it was in some poor woman's lap. Unless of course you want to argue that Juan Valdez maliciously grew coffee beans that could lay in wait for victims to burn...on second thought, maybe I shouldn't even bring that up, since some ambulance chaser will probably use that exact argument to some ignorant jury somewhere and win another ridiculous judgment.

Potent Quotables: Lohan Slams Palin {Spinner}

Sep 24th 2008 11:38AM There's no such freedom as the one you describe anywhere in the laws of the US. The First Amendment, to which I assume you refer, states only that "Congress shall make no law..." Unless the posters here are congressmen proposing legislation, there is no freedom issue here, other than that apparently liberals think only they are allowed to speak their "minds" without any sort of repercussions.

A "Right" to Date Students? Come on, Professor! {News Bloggers}

Aug 21st 2007 11:57PM He is missing the point. The prof *has* the right to date the student (provided s/he is of age). He just can't do it while he's a professor and s/he is a student. Nobody is talking about sending him to jail for dating a student. So far as I know the worst thing that's ever happened to someone like that is that they lost their job. Is he next going to argue that there is a constitutional right to a particular job?

Readers' Sad Songs: No. 1 {Spinner}

May 15th 2007 6:16PM I can't believe that "He Stopped Loving Her Today" by George Jones isn't on here.

A recent song that always gets me is "The Baby" by Blake Shelton - but that may be because it reminds me so much of when my own mother died. "Hurt" is another good one (I prefer the Johnny Cash cover to the NIN original). There's another song, I think titled "The Dollar" (I don't recall the singer at the moment) that is also very sad - along the same lines as "Cat's in the Cradle".

Another song not on the list (maybe because it is more reflective than just sad) is "Where Were You When the World Stopped Turning."

Finally, just to show that I'm not just a country-phile, I think Pantera's "Cemetary Gates" and "Hollow" belong on this list as well.
