P2P Part 3 {Blog Maverick}

Nov 23rd 2007 6:07PM mark, was this a clever ploy to increase traffic to your site? :-)

P2P Part 3 {Blog Maverick}

Nov 23rd 2007 1:33PM I'm guessing that since I have a dissenting opinion, that means it's a personal attack ;-)

Mark, everytime that someone has tried restricting a specific use of the Internet, it has failed miserably. In fact, the attempts to restrict a specific activity have resulted in its increased use. Metallica learned this with it's battle with Napster. Viacom is learning it with YouTube. Even the record companies are starting to realize that DRM is a bad investment.

Mark, why not build a model around what consumers are demanding?

Do Blog Comments Have Value ? {Blog Maverick}

Nov 21st 2007 9:36PM Mark, there is a vast difference between "garbage" and "dissent". I have had a few of my posts disappear into the ether, even after I have verified it's authenticity. Nothing I have ever posted would be considered profane, off topic, or full of hate. It has been in the spirit of honest discussion.

When you decided to nix my various posts, you created animosity. At that point I wrote off your blog and kept away from it for a while. I am only back because you posted items which I found entirely offbase.

If you delete this, that's fine. At least we'll know where you stand with open discussion....

An Open Letter to Comcast and Every cable/Telco on P2P - updated {Blog Maverick}

Nov 20th 2007 3:12PM Wonder how long this is going to stay up on the board.....I have really stopped reading Mark's view when he/his people started deleting posts that offered opposing viewpoints....

Mark, when the RIAA went after Napster, it fueled the P2P revolution. As stated before, Skype is P2P and I use it daily. If Comcast blocks my P2P through Skype, it will force me and thousands of users elsewhere.

Frankly Mark, I really don't get your ethos on this. This is the exact opposite behavior of what a business needs to do when confronted with a customer change.

Watch Dan Rather Tonight on HDNet 8pm EST {Blog Maverick}

Aug 14th 2007 8:30PM Mark, I took your advice and started watching the piece.

A bit of history about me, I am a libertarian with fiscally conservative views and liberal social positions. And to me, Dan's piece tonight seemed nothing more than a bit of sour grapes.

We have had touch screen voting machines here in rural Indiana for almost the past decade and have never had any problems that Florida seems to attract. Of course there are problems with voting technologies, but each election board makes the decision to purchase their own machines.

I was looking at the voting setup from the former employee, and frankly it is incredibly stupid to put three votes so close to each other with all of that open screen. If the local election board decided to do this, it's their fault.

I will watch the rest of it Mark, but I honestly am not impressed with this piece. Dan really doesn't do himself any favors by taking up the cause of a Democratic candidate, especially when there are many other more notable elections where Republican candidates loss by a similar margin.

Line6 releases the Pocket POD for tone on the go {Engadget}

Aug 4th 2007 6:41PM Why oh why do people think Line6 modeling is sacrilege? While to guitar snobs it is obvious listening to a modeled amp as opposed to a real tube amp, 99.999% of the people on this planet don't really give a rats ass.

If I didn't already have a Flextone III, I would buy this.. :-)

IntraNets vs InterNets {Blog Maverick}

Jul 28th 2007 10:51PM I actually agree with some components of net neutrality (such as crippling competitor traffic and such), but in the end it's really a business decision. Net neutrality will be an afterthought once broadband becomes ubiquitous and transparent. At that point, consumers will not care about which provider has the best content peering arrangements since bandwidth will be an afterthought.
