Guns at Home: Do Neighborhoods' Firearms Permits Lower Property Values? {AOL Real Estate}

Jan 17th 2013 6:35PM This information is already publicly available.
If you consider weapon ownership to be an important factor in the purchase of a home, the information is already available, although it is generally not complied in an easy format to access.
Now, some people may consider this information important. If realtors perceive an interest in this information from home purchasers, then the smart realtors will compile this information and make it available to their clients. As a potential home buyer, you have the right to seek realtors who can provide this information to you.
We don't need a new law requiring this information. If enough home buyers desire this information, the market will cause it to be provided.
I think that some people would perceive the ownership of firearms to be positive, some negative. It seems that the net effect on the home market would be positive in some areas, negative in others.

China Bans Foreign Travelers From Tibet {Gadling}

Jun 13th 2012 11:15AM The Chinese govenment is extremely repressive. They have even gone so far as to issue an order prohibiting Tibetan Llamas from reincarnating. They appear to believe that they are in control of this world and the next.
I also do my best to avoid purchasing Chinese made products. Sometimes it is difficult. I absolutey avoid ChinaMart (You may know it as WalMart).
You can thank Bill Clinton for the increase in Chinese products. His administration granted most favored nation trading status to China. (Of course no one since has moved to revoke this status)

Trouble Blooms: Condo Board Sues Resident Over Flowers {AOL Real Estate}

Mar 20th 2012 3:50PM If the HOA allows this homeowner to plant flowers, then every homeowner will want to plant flowers.
Before you know it there will be flowers everywhere. Next people will be planting bulbs and trees and all sorts of plants. It's a slippery slope.

Police Use Pepper Spray to Subdue 8-Year-Old at School {ParentDish}

Apr 6th 2011 11:45AM The purpose of the police department is to use minimum force to subdue the perpatrator. The police department is not there to give out punishment. That is the job of the judicial system. The force in this case appears to be far in excess of what was necessary. However, I was not there. I hope that a reasonable and competant investigation will occur.

It does appear that there are very serious issues with this child. Possibly he needs to be removed to state custody. Possibly the family needs services in the home. Possibly he needs to be put into the juvenile justice system. One of these measures may help. Certainly, pepper spraying him will not help mitigate his behaviors.

Jacob Volkmann Placed on Paid Administrative Leave From Job {MMA Fighting}

Jan 12th 2011 4:20PM I disagree with Volkman. I consider Obama an average president. He has a difficult job cleaning up the mismanagement of our government for the past 40 years. We are in a mess that took 40 plus years to create. It will not be resolved in 1-2 years.
However, I also disagree with suspending Volkman for his comments. The first amendment is a vital part of our Constitution. The case law is well established. He had an absolute right to say what he did, no matter how many people disagree with him. The suspension is idiotic.
The school district is a governmental agency. Therefore, they have no right to suspend him.
There was a case back in the 1980's, where a woman who worked for a sheriff's office in Texas was fired for commenting that she that the next assasination attempt against President Reagan is successful. The Supreme Court found her termination to be improper.
Not every threatening remark against a president is illegal, There was a case back in the 1960's where the arrest of an anti-war protested was found improper when he commented that if he was drafted, the first one he would shoot is LBJ.
While each of these comments may be contrary to the spirit of civil debate, combative and even offensive, it is clear that they are all legal and protected by the first amendment.
The first amendment's core purpose is protect speech concerning significant political, economic and social issues. This speech clearly falls into that catagory.
Suspending this man is contrary to the ideals of the first amendment and contrary to the democratic principals of the U.S.
If Obama feels the need to interfer in local issues, (like the arrest of a Harvard professor) this is the case to interceed.

Welcome to the Passive House {Shelterpop}

Sep 9th 2010 9:47AM I built a passive solar home about 11 years ago that I still live in.
1. The design does not have to look like this one. They can have any design. Mine is a log home.
2. Passive solar design can be used to keep the house cool as well as warm.
3. Heat is gained or lost in 3 ways. Convection, infiltration and radiation. Usually efficient windows address convection loss. Solar gain is through radiation.

Palin Says Marked-Out McCain Visor Wasn't a Political Statement {Politics Daily}

Dec 17th 2009 6:41PM All the liberals are just jealous that they are not hanging out at the beach in Hawaii with Sarah Palin.

Where Are Tiger's 'Cablinasian' Backers? {Fanhouse Golf Blog}

Dec 10th 2009 3:21PM Let me get this straight.
If a black guy kills a couple of people or kills dogs, the black community will support him if he identifies with the black community. But if he fools around on his wife, but doesn't identify with the black community, they will not support him.

Carrie Prejean's Surreal Near-Walkout on Larry King {PopEater}

Nov 12th 2009 12:22PM This is America. She has a right to make a sex tape. She has the right to be homophobic, She has a right to express her opinions. She has a right to have breast enhancement.
The pageant had the right to terminate her for breach of contract. Her lawsuit was frivolous.
Larry King has the right to ask any questions he wants of someone who voluntarily appears on his show.
Carrie has the right to act like a complete fool when asked sensable questions. She has the right to act like a spoiled brat.
The rest of the media has the right to say whatever they want.
Is this a great country or what. I wouldn't want it any other way.
