Police Use Pepper Spray to Subdue 8-Year-Old at School {ParentDish}
Apr 6th 2011 7:23PM Myself, my son and daughter all have had anger issues in the past. My daughter threw a chair at a teacher in kindergarten. That was my wake up call. We, as a family, spent about 5 years on and off with talk therapy with some great therapists. Both of my kids were diagnosed with ADHD by MD's and Phsyc. They were medicated for a few years until we worked and grew out of the problems. Both of my kids are successful adults with normal relationships. Once you discover and accept your mental or emotional problems, it makes it easier to live life to a richer, more happy level. This kid sounds like he and his family are in dire need of many years of help. To ignore this, will result in a very unhappy life for all involved.
SmackDown: Should Parents Teach Teens How to Drive? {ParentDish}
Dec 25th 2010 7:14PM I am a Driving Safety Instructor for USPS. The trainees I get are screened for safe driving qualifications and are usually 18-60 years of age with various experience levels. I teach both the agency class and the National Safety Council course and hands on instruction. My kids are 20 and 17. I started having them use the "what if" stratagey when they were about 10-11 years old. They are as alert as most teen drivers can be. I taught both of them as much as I could and sometimes it was a struggle. It really does make a difference when you are talking to your own child versus someone who you will part company with after the training. I think they might have done better with someone who had no emotional stake in the success of the trainee. There are parents who have no business being parents, much less teaching their kids to drive. There are way too many parental ego-maniac types who have all their bad habits and just wrong headedness ready to pass along to their offspring. If you are a decent parent AND a decent driver, you should take a personal stake in making sure your kids learn correct and safe driving habits whether you do all the training or if you farm them out to a driving school. The absolute best thing you can be for your kids behind the wheel is a good example. Your good habits will rub off just like your bad ones. Keep that in mind the next time you tailgate with your child watching.

What, no Howard Stern on iPhone app? Are they Sirius? {Daily Finance}
Jun 20th 2009 12:53PM Stern is simply sophmoric humor on steroids. I would say that most of his listeners are the same no class types as he is. I vote with my pocketbook and my feet. No Stern for me, thank you. I'll stick with something a little more mature and civilized.

Cross Nursing - Natural extension or disgusting and weird? {ParentDish}
Aug 4th 2008 12:16AM I can see that most of you who object to this premise are hung up on breasts as sexual objects. They are much more than that...in most cultures around the world they are simply mammary glands. I western cultures they are objects for sexual play first and milk producers second. Even if you hold this idea, can't you at least let go of it long enough to give sustenance and comfort to a baby even if it isn't your own? Just something for you to think about.
Hot Seat: Patriotism {Politics Daily}
Jul 4th 2008 3:18PM A patriot is a person who will question the status quo regardless of the repercussion or critisism. The so called "founding fathers" were patriots in that sense. They were however, mostly the same bunch of idealogs and social criminals that have been running this continent for 500 years...lawyers, doctors, career politicians, bankers and investors. I left out the military because everyone who does that does it for their own reasons...including patriotism. When this nation becomes a beggar country in the next generation or two, you will see a different kind of patriot. One who will not be afraid to spill the blood of the chairman of the board and the CEO. The pendulum has swung far enough.
