Apr 13th 2007 2:07PM What should have happened was Imus should have met the girls on a basketball court and had his azz kicked by a few of the girls he insulted. This of course broadcast on his show before giving those young ladies his sincerest apology.
The girls would have most likely felt a whole lot better afterward, the ratings would have been sky high keeping the sponsors happy, and Imus would have learned a valuable lesson.
Problem solved? No, too easy; others also want a piece of the pie.
Ever wonder why in our current society we should no longer have the ability to laugh at ourselves or each other because it’s considered politically incorrect? Could it be that in keeping that notion going it can be very profitable for those who can perpetuate hostility?
The news media has another lead story to work with, Imus’ former sponsors get to show what anti racist hero’s they are by pulling the plug, and you bet good old Reverend Al is cashing in on it with TV spots, speaking engagements, increased donations, etc.
