Drink lots of water! - Airplane tip {Gadling}

Apr 30th 2010 1:19PM Lots of passengers skip the water so they don't have to keep waiting in line at the lav, but I agree that hydration is important.

Key tip: Find out whether you'll be allowed aboard your aircraft with a bottle of water before buying it in the airport! Some flights, especially international ones, won't let you on board with liquids, even ones you purchased in the "sterile" zone of the airport beyond security. Some shops are good about making sure they don't sell you something you can't keep, but not all. Lots of people were tossing out drinks at the gate as we boarded my flight this past Sunday.

At $1 a day Redbox is perfect for consumers, not so much for Hollywood {Engadget HD}

Apr 3rd 2009 12:41PM I think the biggest reason Redbox is doing so well, and getting people past the "inconvenience" of renting physical media, is that their kiosks are placed where people are going anyway. If you're stopping at the supermarket on the way home anyway, sure you'll spring for a $1 disc rental while you're there.

S-Video disappearing from AV receivers, few seem to notice {Engadget HD}

Feb 25th 2009 11:17AM I use S-Video constantly. It connects my bedroom TiVo HD to my bedroom TV, a 27-inch CRT. The quality difference over NTSC is dramatic. I also use it in the living room to connect the AV system to my Slingbox, so as to provide the best possible source video for compression and then streaming. I'd be disinclined to buy an AV receiver that couldn't provide S-Video to my Slingbox, and I have no need for a Slingbox that'd take component or HDMI instead.
