Not only did Diane leave the network for ABC, but she outearned Rather and was the twice the newsperson he was. Diane is much brighter than Charlie and has far more class. I GUESS HE CAN'T HANDLE IT.

Nov 6th 2009 9:42PM i think "Chinaman" has a derogatory meaning on the West Coast but it never caught on as such in the rest of the country. Actually it is kind of arcane,like calling Black people "colored". I always liked the phrase "he doesn't have a Chinaman's chance" and I never thought of it as racial. It just meant you had no chance and dates from the railroad building days when the Chinese laborers usually lit the explosive charges to blast rock.
