Cozumel: Paradise found in Mexico {Gadling}
Apr 9th 2011 11:44AM Paradise Beach? If your idea of Paradise is trucked in sand, over priced Americanized mexican food and giant blow up attractions floating in the water. Get there early? Definitely because by noon the beach is packed in wall to wall with not an inch of clear sand available.
The sand? Trucked in. Cozumel has a rocky coat, they don't have natural sandy white beaches.
If you want Paradise Beach hop on the Ferry and go to Playa del Carmen. Better yet, then take a taxi to Akumal. Or if you have the time... all the way down to Tulum. Now THAT is Paradise.
Cozumel has world class diving, but everything else is a tourist trap designed to cater to the cruise ship crowd. They really don't know what they are missing just a Ferry ride away from Playa del Carmen and the rest of the Riviera Maya along the coast of Mexico. AND it's just as safe as Cozumel.
Taking a cruise to Cozumel? If you aren't going diving, do yourself a favor and hop on the Ferry instead of hanging out on Cozumel.
'Survivor: Nicaragua' Season 21, Episode 6 Recap {AOL TV}
Oct 21st 2010 12:19PM Not voting out Marty was plain stupid. They had a perfect opportunity to not flush the idol out... but get rid of the person who has the idol completely. Flushing the idol out would mean Marty is still around because he used it.
He didn't use it and they still didn't vote him out aftrer a re-vote? These people were smart enough to orchestrate a tie to flush out the idol but not smart enough to take advantage of the fact he didn't use the idol? Unbelievable.
Rumor: MacBook Air downsized details previewed {TUAW.com}
Oct 20th 2010 11:23AM 2GB of Memory? I still own a MacBook Air and had to replace it with a MacBook Pro specifically because 2GB of Memory was too limiting and it was not upgradeable. If the new MacBook Air is in the same boat... I won't even consider it. It better have 4 and 8 GB options with a way to upgrade the memory, at the very least let me take it to the Apple store and have them do it.
Ken Burns and Lynn Novick Talk About 'Baseball: The Tenth Inning' {AOL TV}
Sep 28th 2010 5:49PM Good interview, looking forward to the documentary.
BTW it's Mark McGwire not McGuire.
'The Office' Season 7, Episode 1 (Premiere) Recap (VIDEO) {AOL TV}
Sep 24th 2010 12:21AM I'd have to disagree. The opening sequence was just as bad as the rest of the episode.
'The Big Bang Theory''s Extra One Minute Is Ruining My Life {AOL TV}
Sep 23rd 2010 5:20PM This is by design. It has nothing to do with providing you with bonus content. It isn't at all designed to help you or provide you something special.
They do this on purpose specifically to screw up your DVR recording because you are most likely recording something on another station... this basically locks you into recording their station for the half hour to hour after Big Bang Theory.
It's a shady practice the networks use to force you to DVR their programming.
Don't look for them to stop it anytime soon, even if you ask nicely. They don't care... otherwise they wouldn't do it in the first place.
Twelve South joins the fray of high-end iPad cases {TUAW.com}
Aug 16th 2010 2:29PM I *LOVE* TwelveSouth's products, but on this one I think they missed the mark. The faux book cover itself is very nice, I should know as it's the same as the original BookBook case for the MacBook Pro that I own.
However, the way the iPad is secured in the case, and the added bulk of the zipper, etc. is unnecessary. TwelveSouth should have learned from the DoDo Case, which is beautiful. No extra zippers. No extra bulk. It fits snug and uses an elastic band to secure the cover... just like a notebook would.
I own the DoDo Case and I love it. The BookBook for my MacBook Pro? Not so much. It's beautiful to look at but WAY too bulky, stiff, and just not practical.
If TwelveSouth had made a case like the DoDo but with their own stylish touch... without the zipper and added bulk... i'd buy it today.
Spirit Airlines starts charging up to $45 for carry-on baggage {Gadling}
Aug 1st 2010 7:51PM My response to this is pretty simple... i'll never fly Spirit Airlines if the opportunity arises. Thanks Spirit for eliminating me as a potential customer.
'The Big Bang Theory' Stars Holding out for More Money in Contract Talks {AOL TV}
Jul 29th 2010 12:47PM Am I the only one that doesn't view Kaley Cuoco's character as a main character? To me Penny is just a supporting character like Raj and Howard. And as far as supporting characters go she would be the one most easily replaced. Leonard and Sheldon are the lead characters.
Barefoot Bandit has travel cred {Gadling}
Jul 13th 2010 2:37PM For the record, while he did fly from Indiana to the Bahamas in a stolen plane... he arrived in Indiana after stealing cars and driving from Washington State. He didn't fly across the country in stolen planes.
The other planes that he is credited with stealing were all in the Washington area and were taken on shorter flights before he crash landed them.
Amazingly he has survived stealing and crash landing at least 5 different planes.
As for crossing back and forth between international locations... that isn't very hard the way he did it. The Canadian border is easy to cross if you do so in wilderness areas and he reached the Bahamas in a small plan that he crash landed in the water. That really isn't all that impressive.
What is impressive is he was able to fly from Indiana to the Bahamas without the FAA being alerted and military jets being scrambled to intercept him for flying without a flight plan, etc. He went completely unnoticed. I'm surprised this tidbit of information hasn't been raised in the media.
