TLC's 'Sister Wives' Talk Polygamy, Their Growing Family & 'Big Love' (VIDEO) {AOL TV}
Sep 26th 2010 1:16PM And by the way, I know a couple of young women who live in one of these communes and they come in to work for our office. When we send them their paychecks, it goes to a communal post office box; no-one has their own (post office box). So it's impossible to keep track of who lives where or who lives with whom. The government can't track them beyond the fact that they live in the commune.

Sep 26th 2010 1:11PM The comments that the Mormon church does not accept polygamy does not hold water when you consider that (1) their religion was started with polygamy as one of their main teachings, even though they later got a very convenient "revelation" from God that it was to stop so that they could become a state; and (2) their religion teaches that there will once again be polygamy in the top Heaven for Mormons when they die. Naturally, only the men will get multiple partners.
Also, this practice DOES harm others; these people are completely unable to support themselves, so they rely on government handouts. The fact that most of the marriages are not registered with the State allows the families to take multiple benefits for single moms and their children. And they deliberately do not list the fathers on the birth certificates, so that the "husband" is not required to pay child support.

Sep 26th 2010 12:44PM Yes, it's true that they do not get the benefits of marriage if they don't have a legal marriage license. Instead, they get all the free welfare and other assistance that the government offers single moms and their children. It's all a big scam, and a disgrace.

Mother Teresa: Should a Saint Get Postal Service's Stamp of Approval? {Politics Daily}
Jan 30th 2010 9:32AM This is taking the rule too far. The rule does not say that only secular, atheistic type people can be on stamps. It does not say that you can't be religious. It says that you can't be on a stamp BECAUSE you're religious, or whatever. Mother Theresa is being honored for her life of humanitarian work, which was incredible, and changed the world for the better. Those efforts are what defined her, being a devout Catholic and nun was just an aside. We never would have heard of her if she were just a devout Catholic and Nun who never did any of those things.
Why the White House Shouldn't Play Chicken With Fox {Politics Daily}
Oct 21st 2009 4:52PM Fox News is what it is, and it's alone out there. The rest of the news media is very far to the left, and they hate that one single network (Fox) is not controlled by the liberals! Fox News has so many listeners now compared to the other news outlets, that Obama and his administration view them as a threat. This is NOT the American way, free speech is just that, and we have a right to NOT agree with whoever is in office, whether a Democrat or a Republican. Obama seems to me to be about as paranoid as Richard Nixon was back in his day (and yes, Nixon was a Republican).
Innocent Bath-Time Photos Get Kids Taken Away From Parents {ParentDish}
Sep 21st 2009 9:02PM I hope that the parents not only sue Wal-Mart, but the idiot photo-clerk that called the authorities in the first place. There was not a HINT of anything pornographic, it was so OBVIOUSLY family pictures that everyone takes, and I think it was pretty malicious for someone to call that in to the police. The cops need to be sued, as well, for playing along. What is WITH everyone?? The clerk, Wal-Mart, the police and CPS; they are all IDIOTS that should be sued for a ton of money so that it doesn't happen again! This is truly frightening when you realize that pedophiles can do terrible things and get away with it a huge percentage of the time, yet something harmless like this is used to destroy a family. Where are out rights, Folks?
Toddlers on the Brink: Worst Tantrums Ever {ParentDish}
Jul 26th 2009 1:46PM Meghan, if you think that a parent spanking the snot out of their kids in public is a wise thing to do, then you live in another century. That is the fastest track to having CPS called on you, and your kids being taken from you until you can prove that you are a fit parent. I've actually known people who had bystanders threaten to call CPS on them for just giving their child a light swat on the rear.

Magic Johnson Rips Radio Talk Show Hosts Who Said He 'Faked AIDS' {Fanhouse NBA Blog}
Oct 10th 2008 5:10PM It always boggles my mind that most Americans (and I'm American) do not know the difference between being HIV positive and actually having AIDS. Also that they don't even know about the "cocktail" of medicines that can suppress the virus to the point of not being detectable, so long as the medicine is taken faithfully without ever stopping. Magic Johnson NEVER said he was cured with AIDS. He never even GOT AIDS! He was diagnosed as HIV positive and immediately started on the "cocktail" , and has had the best medical care right from the start. He has to stay on that routine for the rest of his life, so I don't consider that being cured, much less cured of AIDS when he never claimed to have it in the first place. By the way, this treatment is NOT new, although it was when Magic Johnson started it; many people have had the same results as he, so those talk show hosts must be ignorant idiots (redundant?) to act like he is claiming some magical cure that has never happened to anyone else....
