Mouse Control, the Humane Way {DIY Life}
Dec 30th 2010 8:17AM When the rare and stupid mouse gets into the house I don't have to do anything. The cat catches and kills the mouse and presents it's little dead body to me and we flush his little remains. The up side to this method is a beautiful companion that purrs and sleeps on the bed with us at night and is a wonderful member of the family.
Top five uses for ZiplocĀ® bags when traveling {Gadling}
Nov 20th 2010 6:18AM I store my cross stitch work in zip lock bags. I also store tea bags in them. It keeps them air tight. The big use though is in cooking. They make great piping bags. When you make deviled eggs put the egg mixture in a zip lock and cut one corner off the bag. Them squeeze the mixture out through the corner cut. No messy spoons and you can control the amount in each egg. It works for frosting too. I frost cookies this way too.
Should Dogs Go Everywhere With Their Owners? {Pawnation OLD}
Feb 16th 2010 6:55AM I worked in a grocrey store in New York State for years and dogs, by law, are not allowed into any store unless they are woking dogs. The only dogs allowed were working dogs for the blind and disabled. Somewhere along the line a law passed that allowed dogs to accompany people with mental issues. These dogs were considered companion animals to help them cope with their problems but...the owners has to proove the need. I do not like having any kind of pets wandering the stores where I shop. I don't even like it in places like PetSmart. People DO NOT control their pets and it causes problems. We used to go through the nightmare of taking animals to have their pictures taken with Santa. Finally we no longer do that thanks to so many owners who don't control their pets. Maybe a close look at New York State laws would be the answer.
Solve the Mysterious Cat Photo {Animal Hubbub}
Dec 27th 2007 11:36AM I honestly believe that cats choose the background they want to lay on. Either to show themselves off or to blend in with their surroundings. The blending in is so important to cats in the wild so that they can hunt to survive. Maybe he was hunting a rascally Beauvart.
Mommy's Little Helper: Kittens in the Cradle {Animal Hubbub}
Dec 19th 2007 5:05PM Yes we raised kittens two years ago. they were older than Stella's brood but I know where she is coming from. the schedule is strict and all the extra important things that go with raising kittens will keep you on your toes. I even kept a diary of who ate what and if they piddled and ...well you know the other too. We even wrote down when they burped and anything else they might have done as they grew. Sort of like a baby book.
So glad the queen is doing well and will be back with her little kittles soon.

Cockatoo Co-Worker {Animal Hubbub}
Oct 26th 2007 5:07PM Our Former vet had a cat that he found on the side of the road. It had been hit by a car and was in critical condition. The cat pulled through and became the oficial mascot of the vet practice. "Squish" was always onhand to greet you and he also worked as Mouse Ontrol Officer and a blood doner cat.

Horse and Buggy: The Simpler Life {Animal Hubbub}
Oct 23rd 2007 3:23PM Oh how I would love to have a horse and cart to do local shopping. It would be a way to get back to nature and enjoy a leisurely drive. There are plenty of places to tie up a horse and cart in our little town and no one would think anything different if they saw it. Thanks for a great article.
Horse-Drawn Carriages in NYC {Animal Hubbub}
Oct 18th 2007 9:14AM I honestly think that the carriage trade can co-exist with the city. New York City just closed the riding stable area that was close tot he park. Could the horses be relocated there? Closer to the park? I can honestly say that I have never been to NY City so I don't know the conditions but I have seen that the horses are checked on a regular basis by the A.S.P.C.A. and if conditions are too hot or whatever they are sent back to the stables. I am not condoning that the carriage trade should go or stay but they are a part of the history of the city. There has to be a ntch for them somewhere.
If Niagara Falls can find a spot in their hearts and their city for them maybe NY City can too. In the end, my only concern is for the horses welfare.
