This statement shows a complete lack of understanding of how two-way radio communications work. If the pilot's mic was keyed, he wouldn't be able to hear any other transmissions. That's just how it works. He wasn't ignoring the air traffic controller. He couldn't hear the controller.

Mar 17th 2010 8:59AM Why not keep the divisions the same (with one exception) but have the teams with the four best records make the playoffs, irrespective of what division they are in, similar to basketball & hockey. The one division that I would change would be to put the Houston Astros in the American League West so that there would be a natural rivalry with the Texas Rangers and so the Rangers wouldn't have to travel so far, all of the time. This would even up the divisions again, since SOMEONE allowed the Brewers to change leagues.

Mar 3rd 2008 7:32AM I'm about to start ground school with a commuter which flies EMB-145s in the eastern US. From what I can figure, I'll only have 8 days off per month and will be flying 1, 3, or 4 day trips. Will this improve if and when I make captain and how does this differ from a legacy airline? Great blog, by the way.

Feb 11th 2008 1:35PM No, the clock was not wound and did not continue to run. The clock did not start to run again until the ball was snapped again. The officials basically gave the Giants a "time-out" because of the two seconds that it took for the refs to determine that the Giants had a first down.

May 14th 2007 8:00PM Reminds me of the things that Grady Little used to do when he was managing the Red Sox. To think that, back in the 80s, the Orioles had the highest win percentage in all of professional sports. It's very sad for a lifetime Orioles fan to see them have trouble getting above .500!
