London's Temple of Mithras is moving back to its original location {Gadling}
Nov 20th 2011 1:22PM Looking at history, the major Christian church at the time integrated Dec. 25 as the birthdate for Jesus from pagan culture as well as Sunday as a worship day--before that the early Christians kept the Jewish Sabbath. The plan of salvation through Jesus (retroactive for all humanity) was clearly established and prophesied in the ancient Jewish sacrificial service in which he was symbolized by a lamb. Christ as the promised Messiah fulfilled that ceremonial law. He never intended to establish a new religion.
Teacher Says She Doesn't Regret Punching Student in Face {ParentDish}
Jun 6th 2011 4:30PM I can't believe this: The school talks about what's best for students--they are teaching them they can get away with anything and have no responsibility. Whether he touched her or not is irrelevant--he cursed her and threatened her. I am afraid for our educational system and the kind of kids they are turning out. I would pull my kid out of that school for the way they treated this teacher. They maybe afraid of being sued, but the teacher has the best reason to sue.
This 'Let's Move!' Ad Isn't Going to Get Kids Moving {ParentDish}
Mar 30th 2011 1:52PM I question that there is less crime than in the past (certainly not before 1960). What kinds of crimes are the stats talking about? I find this hard to believe with so many kids being taken advantage of and even killed. You never heard that years ago.
I always walked half a mile to the school bus on the road. Not today. Women could actually hitch-hike without fear; never now.
Somebody has got to be deceiving us. There may have been more bank robberies in days gone by, but more murders now and cons of all types.
Wait, What is that White Light Anyway? The Science Behind Near-Death Experiences {MyDaily}
Feb 4th 2011 5:30PM sherrybretz:
Before being so harsh on what you consider an "atheist," perhaps you should study the Bible for yourself to see if what you are promoting is true (immediate life after death). It just is not there. The writer's explanations sound valid. Human's do not have immortal souls. They will not have them until the biblically-valid resurrection. Until then they sleep as Jesus tells us.
Wait, What is that White Light Anyway? The Science Behind Near-Death Experiences {MyDaily}
Feb 4th 2011 5:09PM Just to let you know. If you are a Judeo-Christian, there is nothing in the Bible about an immediate afterlife. It just isn't there. Jesus talks about death as a sleep as does the OT. Why would there be a resurrection, as mentioned several places in the Bible, (at the Messiah's coming) if people were already in heaven? The idea of Paradise after death came from pagans and the Greeks who inhfluenced the Roman church and later writers. If you are interested, study it for yourself. One of the top theologians alive--an Archbishop in the English church, NT Wright, recently wrote about it in his book Suprised By Hope. He uses the Bible and history to explain this truth.
The writer of this aol piece is correct in that the "visions" are some sort of chemical reactions in the brain, having to do with our sense of space. A God of love would certainly give a dying person a feeling of bliss if he or she was afraid. He built it in. There have also been many NDE's episodes experienced by people who were not dying and in good health. I know of two persons who experienced this.
How to Cope With the 4 Types of Cat Aggression {Pawnation OLD}
Feb 1st 2011 2:29PM We had a Siamese mix (Toby) who died a couple years ago at age 19. He had to be taken from my elderly mother because he would attack her for no reason. He was strange in that he would sit in puddles, knock over catfood and help himself, open doors (knobs). When confronting him with a rolled newspaper, he leaped, grabbed the paper, shook it, and tore it up then was ready to go after me and I ran in the house. He once ran up to attack a grown man who protected himself with a board. We took the cat from my mother after he sent her to the ER. We were to take it to the pound, but it followed us around crying, and we kept it for 15 more years. When we would leave, he attacked house sitters when they left; he would go after me at odd times when my husband was away.
With all of this the cat was affectionate and lovable and laid with my husband during a long period of illness. He never attacked him. He mellowed after being made a house cat at age 14, but would still occasionally turn on someone. I never trusted him--he would be so lovable and I would pet and love him again; and then for no reason he would attack--one never knew. When we left for a long stay in Florida and had a part-time house sitter, he went into deep depression a year before he died. He never seemed to come fully back.
With all this he was still my favorite cat over the years; he was smart and had other interesting humanlike behaviors. Any ideas on his behavior? I now have a Ragdoll!
5 Scary Things That Might Be Lurking in Your Home {Shelterpop}
Oct 29th 2010 10:00PM I was bitten by a brown recluse several years ago on the butt. It was painful and ugly and I couldn't sit down for awhile. However, an alternative medicine doctor gave me Vit C IV and I got antibiotics so didn't need any surgery. I still have the scar, but it's not bad.
Also we have had black snakes in our attic, but they eat mice and are harmless. Even so, we took them out by hand and dumped them in the woods. We haven't seen anything scarey in many years. I think the spider came in with boxes of produce.

'My Husband Died on 9/11, But He Still Speaks To Me Through Signs' {Lemondrop}
Jun 23rd 2010 4:30PM {I didn't see this come up even though I confirmed it.}
I believe someone may be communicating with the grieved, but it
is not the person who died. If one is from the Judeo-Christian
belief system, there is no evidence that they held such a belief as
going to heaven after death or even awareness. Jesus hadn't been
there when he arose from His sleep of death and the OT knows of no
such thing. There would be no need of a resurrection--a clear
teaching of scripture--if one went to heaven after death or was a
disembodied spirit. Read the book by N. T. Wright (one of the best
Bible scholars alive and bishop of Durham of the Anglican Church)
Surprised by Hope.
The communication could be from God who wants to comfort you or
another spirit who wants to deceive you. I believe in dreams and
rare visions from God, but he does not impersonate our loved ones.
I believe in a battle of good against evil; truth and deception,
and we need to discriminate carefully according to our scripture
knowledge and study. There may come a time when we will really need
to know truth to keep from being deceived. Give God all the credit
and not humans dead or alive.
