Wal-Mart's new Supermercado concept could be huge {BloggingStocks}
Jul 12th 2009 3:14PM Good idea but currently the concept it lacking. I visited the Houston location and came away thinking that it was not completely thought out. The fresh, bakery, deli and meat are great (although I asked the guy at the meat counter how the fresh chorizo was and he had not tried it). The dry grocery and refrigerated/frozen areas were lacking many hispanic products. The only hispanic frozen items were ice cream and the usual assortment of frozen enchiladas, taquitos, etc. that one can find anywhere. HEB does a better job with hispanic items, and Fiesta currently blows Supermercado away.
Pitchman Billy Mays Found Dead {TMZ}
Jun 28th 2009 5:51PM RIP Billy. You were a good friend and one of the few people I looked up to. My prayers go to your family and they will be comforted to know that you were loved by others who looked forward to inviting you into their homes daily. I hope the Angels don't get too tired of you pitching Oxy Clean to them :p

Sep 14th 2004 4:20PM She's a teacher at an inner-city school - why doesn't she teach her students instead of buying them things ("...some want things as simple as a kite...")? Come on! Teach them how to build a kite - there is plenty to learn, including science (weather, engineering, aeronautics), math (measurements), history (importance of kites, balloons and flight), art, confidence, etc. I don't know the second grade cirriculum where Shawn teaches, but when I was in the second grade, we did build kites (among other things). I hope she doesn't treat her kids the way she comes across (and describes herself).
