Alarm Clock Senses When You Get Out of Bed {Switched}

Mar 12th 2008 11:28PM Best alarm clock I've ever owned (from American Express)sounds like a Church tower bell. It actually gongs. I mean GONGS! It can be heard three rooms away, three streets away, three towns away. The sound is amazing and nobody can lie in bed after the second GONG. It sounds/feels like a Electric Shock treatment.

That's a surprise: a diamond falls out of a cracker {Slashfood}

Mar 12th 2008 10:24PM I found a First Communion Cross, with initials, and no one ever claimed it(advertised in paper). It's mine now. Found a huge Opal in the Utility Room of a Hospital; it was an RN's engagement ring. Found a bracelet in a patients's bed; it was an aides anniv. present from husband. Found a gold bracelet on the break-room floor; it was an RN's X-mas present from her hubby. Has anyone found my Amber heart with the bug in it?

Alzheimer's hat for stopping mental decline? {That's Fit}

Jan 29th 2008 10:33PM For years, I worked in a lock-down Alzheimers ward. (Level I) It took its toll on me. I felt the fear, the sorrow and the anguish from the families. I cried many times. All due credit should be given to the sufferer's care-takers. It's a bleak prognosis, a sad ending and a heartbreak. Any new tech breakthrough that can help would be worth its weight in research. ...and George Clooney should be chastised for wishing it on Charlton Heston. I'll take it that he doesn't know what he wished for.

Heath Ledger died today and I'm thinking of Brokeback Mountain and Wyoming {Gadling}

Jan 22nd 2008 11:04PM I said I'd never watch Brokeback Mt. But, I did. The first time I saw it, I was moved. The 2nd time, I actually wept at the end. I am an old (67) straight female, but know gay folks I never understood what moved me so, but I was so moved. So moved!
Heath made such a sad, realistic, heart-breaking path come to life for me. I finally understood our family member, and it changed me forever.
I won't believe it was suicide. I will believe it was accidental OD. He was a tortured man. I'll say one for him.

Possible UFO Spotted Over Texas, Chased By F16s {Switched}

Jan 16th 2008 10:18PM I saw a UFO 12 years ago and was laughed to scorn, so-no more to say on that. I saw a docu- mentary on TV which explained what would happen to us if the gov'ts were to 'fess up. Panic/dread
agricultural/financial/technological collapse, the need for revenge, abandonment, terror on a scale never before known, apostacy, total world
wide chaos. Don't you think it's better if we don't know? Ignorance can be bliss.

Energy-Saving Bulbs Causing Migraine Headaches {Switched}

Jan 2nd 2008 11:42PM I have a relative who had to be placed into a chemically-induced coma to erase non-stop seizures
Today, the young man has to wear an eyepatch when on-line due to flickering images. Another friend cannot drive down a tree-lined highway at sunrise/
sunset with the sun flickering through tree brances for the same reason.
Not all of us are created equal. There are anomalies that cannot be easily explained. These bulbs cause more problems than they are worth. When Mercury thermomaters were rumoured to be eventually banned, I went out and bought 15 of them. Why not? I don't expect to fracture them and expose the Mercury, and they are the single best measurement of fever. NOW? I am off to purchase a couple hundred dollars worth of the old bulbs. I wonder how long they will last in the closet.

Guilty Displeasures {AOL Food Blog}

Dec 1st 2007 12:35AM Yes, our YUCK-button for food is pushed in childhood, and it only has to be done once. It lasts a lifetime. My YUCK-buttons are scallops; they look and taste like Indian rubber erasers), Escargo ("Eat up, honey! ... a platter of snot for you, along with beets" (horse testicles), and last but not least chocolate-covered ants. I thought I was eating Peanut Raisinets until I discovered an insect leg stuck in my teeth. I vomited for days and can still retch at the thought of any of these. You know how hard it was to just write this out? Please excuse me...I need to leave, NOW.

Spice Girls Performed Nude Last Time {AOL Video Blog}

Oct 31st 2007 9:06PM Does Posh Spice have bad teeth? Maybe 'catatonic' is just the new cool thing. Or, perhaps sullen is the new cool thing. Why does she never smile?

Valerie did it! {That's Fit}

Sep 23rd 2007 8:53PM For most of a lifetime, I've had trouble keeping weight off. I've never been superlatively "fat", or even obese, but still am always watching my weight.
After having tried every diet (including TOPS, Nutrisystem, Jenny Craig and even Atkins), the single diet that works in a healthy way and even after the diet is over is the South Beach Diet. It is so easily incorporated into daily life. You can live on this good food forever. Congrats to Valerie!

Paris Hilton Is in the Shoe Biz {Luxist}

Aug 11th 2007 11:28PM ...not here to slam or compliment, just to ask a question.
I have seen many pictures of Paris, even those taken when she was a child. In all of those pictures, she seems to have brown eyes. Is this a trick of the camera or does she wear colored contacts?
