The First Floor Of The Stoa Of Attalos To Reopen In Athens {Gadling}

Mar 30th 2012 9:34PM The photo is taken from atop a nearby ridge. I have an almost identical shot from last October. The funny thing with the Greeks currently is they need tourists to help with the economy but they strike in protest so much that nothing is open for the tourists to see. The day we spent in Athens the Acropolis was locked closed and this complex above was also closed. I asked our cab driver, who struck two days before, whether it made sense to stay off work when you need the income and he sheepishly replied "not at all". The sanitation workers have been on strike forever so every corner of Athens has trash piled in huge heaps. If the museums are open the cabbies are on strike, if the cabbies are working the museums are closed, if the buses are on strike you can't get around anywhere.

Five Tax Tips, Tricks and Traps for Homeowners {WalletPop}

Mar 2nd 2011 8:40PM We have a simple flat tax, it is called the Alternative Minimum Tax and everyone hates it. So what makes you think the rest of the masses will like a flat tax. The screaming will never stop. And how the hell do they get the SBA to quote a home office deduction of $3686. A 10 by 15 office in a 1800 square foot home would require $44,232 in interest, real estate tax, maintenace, utilities, and deprecition to get a $3686 deduction. Not a freaking chance just write AUDIT ME in red pen on the return before you send it in. The real amount is closer to a few hundred bucks. Next time qoute the IRS not the SBA.

English Springer Spaniels 101 {Pawnation OLD}

Jan 27th 2011 3:19PM Our current Springer is approaching 10. We adopted him from rescue around 2 and he has matured and blossomed beyond all expectaions. He succeeds a Springer who passed at 15 and 3 months that by everyones account was a rare and classic dog. His work cut out for him he proceeded to eat all the presents his first Christmas, counter surf, eat shoes and do everything you would dread as an owner. We never gave up. We socialized him and worked with him and now he too is remarkable. It was his work and desire to please. I cannot recommend highly enough that you consider rescue to find a Springer - they will thank you every day. There are Springer rescues across the country and here in the mid-atlantic type in MAESSR and open your heart.

Tucker Carlson: Michael Vick 'Should Have Been Executed' {Fanhouse NFL Blog}

Dec 29th 2010 6:08PM ..1915 Moonlight Road to determine which animals were good fighters. PEACE,PHILLIPS and VICK agreed to the killing of approximately 6-8 dogs that did not perform well in "testing" sessions at 1915 Moonlight Road and all of those dogs were killed by various methods,including hanging and drowning. VICK agrees and stipulates that these dogs all died as a result of the collective efforts of PEACE, PHILLIPS and VICK.

Now you can spin this any way you desire...but the man admitted to hanging and drowning those dogs. How hard is it as a human being to merely give the dogs away - to continue feeding the dogs - to do anything else plausible with these animals besides hanging or drowning them? This mental midget does not deserve to be in the public eye in any way. Screw the Eagles and VICK.

Sportscaster George Michael Dies After Battle With Cancer {Fanhouse Main}

Dec 24th 2009 2:09PM DC has had two great and talented sportscasters and we have lost them both way too soon. George allowed us to carry on and forget our loss of Glenn Brenner. They were opposites in style but both at the top of the field with George having a larger following due to Sports Machine.
I remember calling and talking to George about Joe Theismann back in the day. This is a guy who would actually get on the phone and talk to you. How refreshing. And when the scumbags at WRC4 wanted to cut staff and pay he stood on his principles and left rather than watch his staff get cut and his product go second rate. I would expect tonight that Jim Vance will honor his friend.

Pandit praises Citi's performance as feds prepare for additonal help {Daily Finance}

Mar 10th 2009 1:37PM Gee I make money on bank charges and stock commissions - but fail to write down all the horrible loans I made the last 3 years and I can claim I made a nice profit. What about all the bad loans? Oh that's right - as a taxpayer I get to write that stuff off later. Hooray. Let's give everybody at Citi a bonus and lots of stock options to buy the stock for 4 cents a share.

Bench Press Accident {AOL Video Blog}

Feb 19th 2007 2:45PM Looks like 325. Probably a nice deep tissue bruise. I was goofing around as a high schooler as we made fun of one our buddies the way he would improperly arch his back and lift with his butt up off the bench. The bar rolled toward the back of the curved bar rest - then when I felt the bench rising I slammed my butt back down and the bar rolled forward to the edge of the bar rest. Another inch and it would have rolled right off onto my neck - same 325 - would have been brutal.
