Apple: iPhone 4 drops 'less than one additional call per 100 than the 3GS' {Engadget}

Jul 17th 2010 3:24PM AT&T are on record as claiming a average 1.44% dropped call rate, nationally, across all handsets.

This was in May 2010, before the iPhone 4 was released.

So - 3 options:

1) the 3GS performs the same as the average. In this scenario, the 4 drops 70% more calls than the 3GS.

2) the 3GS performs better than average. In this scenario, the 4 drops greater than 70% more calls than the 3GS.

3) the 3GS performs worse than average. In this scenario, the 4 drops fewer than 70% more calls than the 3GS, but is still worse performing. But don't lose sight of he fact that the only way to make the 4 look not so bad, implies both it and the 3GS are poor performers when compared to the whole market.

Lies, damned lies, and statistics have a habit of coming back and biting you in the ass, eh Steve?

GigaPan Epic Pro helps create 44,880 megapixel panorama of Dubai skyline, world's largest digital photo {Engadget}

May 10th 2010 11:58PM @benr Using the same lens, a 7D gives you a higher pixel density over the 5D Mk II for the same angular field of view.

You can see a (not quite exact) comparison between these two gigapans:

May 10th 2010 11:40PM @John52 The Gigapan guys didn't actually go anywhere. This was initially just done for the sheer hell of it.

May 10th 2010 11:38PM @yulebellow I considered doing a timelapse of the whole thing. Perhaps next time.

The video was shot with a 5D Mk II and 24mm TS-E Mk II.

May 3rd 2010 2:03PM Just to clarify - the kit was in direct sunlight. It was 98 degrees in the shade, I have no idea how hot it was out of it!

iPhone 2.0 and iPod touch 2.0 released officially {Engadget}

Jul 11th 2008 6:29AM Just to confirm that this did work via a PC for me. You do need to be patient though, so hang in there even if it looks like nothing is happening.

How would you change Lenovo's X300? {Engadget}

Jun 7th 2008 6:15AM Fn-F8 gives you precisely that.

I've had an X300 since March 25th. Upped the RAM to 4 Gig (I do a lot of work inside VMWare images), got the extra battery to replace the DVD drive, and also have the 3G modem.

There's only two things I can think of that could improve it (taking into account of course the whole purpose of the thing).

1. An SD card slot.
2. Turn it into a tablet.

If you are fortunate enough to not have to worry about whether your primary work laptop costs $1K, $2K or $3K (and I fully respect that there are many who do have to worry about such things), then I honestly don't think this thing can be beaten.
