Mike Huckabee Criticizes Natalie Portman for 'Glorifying' Out-of-Wedlock Pregnancy {PopEater}
Mar 4th 2011 9:12AM Did Mr Huckabee catch that Natalie Portman is engaged? As far as having children and being married vs having children and not being married, it's about what's in the couple's heart and not what's on the piece of paper. A marriage certificate does not a marriage make. Love, support, patience, respect, hard work, tears and joy are the recipe. Congratulations to Ms Portman and her FIANCE.Did you get that Mr Huckabee?
Tyler Perry Reveals Abuse, Molestation on 'The Oprah Winfrey Show' {BV Newswire}
Oct 21st 2010 11:30AM Ms Bland, I feel that I may have misspoke and I owe you an apology. Whereas Tim Reid did have a film studio in 1997, obviosly having the studio built as Mr Reid did and outright owning it as Mr Perry does, are two different things. Again my apology.
Tyler Perry Reveals Abuse, Molestation on 'The Oprah Winfrey Show' {BV Newswire}
Oct 21st 2010 11:20AM First of all for anyone to open up the way Tyler did is courageous. I however need to comment on something that was stated in the first paragraph of this article. Tyler Perry is not, and I repeat, IS NOT the first African American to open a film studio. In 1997,the African-American actor, producer, director Tim Reid built New Millenium Studios in Petersberg, Virginia. Ms Bland, you need to do your homework before you or anyone else makes an erroneous statement like that.
Memphis Teen Shot in Butt for Not Pulling Up Pants {BV Black Spin}
Oct 11th 2010 3:39AM The pants on the ground syndrom, according to Eric Adams of 100 Black Men, reported on a talk show on 98.7 KISS-FM in NY, has reached epidemic propotions not only in the states, BUT AROUND THE WORLD! Italy, Germany, The UK, France and other countries.What really gets me is to see a young family in public where there is a husband and wife with baby, and the man has his pants sagging.Our young men, and in some cases, our young women, are all punks for exposing their underwear in public. There is nothing cute about it. There is nothing respectful about it. And as Michael Baisden proclaims, "YEAH I SAID IT!!!"
Mel'isa Morgan: R&B Veteran Not Invited to Prince's BET Awards Tribute {Blackvoices Main}
Jun 26th 2010 12:28PM I apologize for spelling Mel'isa's name incorrectly in my last post. Suffice to say , Mel'isa OWNS "Do Me Baby" like Chaka OWNS "Feel For You". I'm sure that whoever sings "Do Me Baby"(provided it is one of the songs performed in the tribute)will do a good job...but Mel'isa Morgan's version will be in everyone's ear and on everyone's mind. Trust me!
Mel'isa Morgan: R&B Veteran Not Invited to Prince's BET Awards Tribute {Blackvoices Main}
Jun 26th 2010 12:11PM I agree with an earlier comment. Mel'lisa Morgan made "Do Me Baby" her song. She would have blown every other performer doing the tribute to Prince out of the water. You see, the sister just doesn't sing, she SANGS. You Dig! That's why she can still find work 30 years later unlike some of these new artists who will fade into oblivion after 5.
Tyler Perry Addresses Mariah Carey's Exit From 'Colored Girls' {BV on Movies}
Jun 13th 2010 8:06PM This is an impressive cast. I only hope that Tyler Perry has shown the utmost respect to the writing and vision of the creator of "For Colored Girls...". However I find it interesting that author Ntozake Shange's name was not mentioned once in this article which can create the perception that"For Colored Girls.." was the brainchild of Mr. Perry which is interesting considering that the original B'way production came out when Mr Perry and most of the cast were either toddlers, in elementary school or not even born yet. Without Ms Shange's masterwork, who is still quite active as the creative icon that she is, all this discussion about who is in the film and who is out would be a moot point.

St. Mary's College Professor Accused of Racism in Class {BV Black Spin}
Apr 29th 2010 11:24PM Why shouldn't the young man be telling the truth. Yes both sides should be heard. However wouldn't it be interestingTaylor Cotrell, if the professor did exactly as the young man reported. I also have grown quite tired of the acceptance of the words"race", racial" and "racist" as those these words really mean anything . A pit bull is not of a different farace than a collie or Boston Terrier. All dogs are canines. A cat, cougar, lion, panther and tiger are all part of the same cat or feline family. To refer to human beings of different ehtnic backgrounds as being of a different race is ludicrous. These words have been accepted for many, many, many years. It does not make it right. We are all of the same human race, different, ethnicities, religions, customs, languages and so forth, but ONE RACE. To feel that there is such a thing as the White race and Black race for instance is to admit that whites and blacks are two separate and different species. That is a bizarre and ridiculous(though widely accepted)frame of thinking and reasoning.
RIP Guru -- A Tribute To Gang Starr's MC {theBVX.com}
Apr 20th 2010 4:48PM This is a tragic chapter in hiphop. Guru saw the viability of fusing Jazz with Hip Hop while still maintaining the integrity of both. Aside from the late , great Weldon Irvine, few others in Hip Hop saw the relevance of utilizing America's classical music(Jazz) in the mainstream arena.
