Airline Says British Couple "Too Old" to Sit in Emergency Exit Row {AOL Travel News}
Apr 13th 2010 12:36PM I am a flight attendant. I am not misinformed as you stated. You listed the FARs line-by-line, how does that make me misinformed? I wrote in my post what we visually look for; I don't need to list the FARS to the whole world.
WE DO NOT ask anyone in the emergency exit row what their level of "mobility or dexterity" happens to be, and if we did, do you think we would get a truthful answer? Afterall, they want that extra leg room.
We ask them if they are willing and able to assist in a evacuation. We need to hear a verbal "yes." We do not ask them about their eyesight or hearing. Since they are simply sitting in the seats, we cannot tell the state of their strength, dexterity, or vision. We don't ask them to stand up and do a 'test.
Don't be so quick to make an accusation of being misinformed. There's reasons why I didn't go indepth, because I don't need to. This isn't an article for the New York Times. It's a simple post in response to an article that isn't even about a USA airline.
Airline Says British Couple "Too Old" to Sit in Emergency Exit Row {AOL Travel News}
Apr 13th 2010 10:49AM There are only three requirements in order to sit in an exit row on a USA airline: You must speak and understand English, you must be a minimum of 15 years old, and you must appear to be phsically capable of opening the exit door or window. In the USA, there are flight attendants who are in their seventies still working. This does raise some eyebrows, but remember, we don't discriminate against age. If you're not in a cast, wheelchair, or sling, you can sit there. Period.

Presidents' Day: George Washington Slept Here {Gadling}
Feb 19th 2007 10:49AM At one point in time, George Washington did actually sleep in the Reynold’s Tavern and apparently -- as history tells – was smitten with the innkeeper’s wife.
The pre-revolutionary bed and breakfast in Annapolis, Maryland is a stone’s throw from the oldest capital building in the United States. The brick Georgian structure was built in 1747, twenty-nine years before Maryland declared independence from Britain. Today, it reflects the quintessential colonial inn.
The two suites are named after Jefferson, and, of course, Washington.

Oscar Tourist's Guide To Eating And Accommodation {Gadling}
Jan 30th 2007 2:56PM A couple of years ago, I was an Oscar spectator. The biggest tip that I can offer is to bring binoculars. The police herd the crowds away from potential celebrity sightings. I saw the limos pull up and I heard the cheering, but the stars were miniscule in size. Thankfully, I brought the binoculars.
