May 2nd 2010 2:32PM I disagree. I stopped watching pro sports several years ago. Many/most are crying babies. I will not pay the huge ticket prices or send any money to support the thugs and criminals of pro football and basketball. Baseball players are better but steroid cheats also turn me off. I will never help pay for these silly salaries. I hope you all stop watching or attending the games. I have but..... do as you like.

Feb 17th 2010 8:51PM Did anyone read what they are calling torture now? This guy was tortured by not allowing him to sleep. He was tortured by threatening him with rendition (ie, they were going to ship him away to some other country) or they tortured him by subjecting him to previous interrogations. This is torture? I think torture would be more like being trapped in a burning building as it crumbled on top of me and crushed me. I think torture might be more like being blown to bits by a suicide bomber. Possibly being beheaded by a terrorist. I loose sleep all the time worrying about what the crazy Muslims are going to do next. THIS IS NOT TORTURE. Get a life people. Those crazy people want to kill us and we are worrying about one of them complaining he was deprived of sleep? *&(***#@**$#@

Dec 14th 2009 9:14AM Dickinson is right AND she did not say it was not rape. Instead of the outrage against Dickinson why not listen to her advise and avoid putting yourself in a place that you might be attacked. Women need to realize alcohol use (by both parties) dramatically increases the chances of a rape occurring. It is still rape and it is still wrong... no means no, but why not realize some situations are risky and avoid them? I do not condone bad behavior by men but getting drunk at a frat party almost guarantees you will be having sex with someone, possibly several men. Possibly because you both are too drunk to act responsibly. A drunk woman might be so out of it, to not protest AND a drunk man might be so drunk he takes advantage because of impaired judgement. He is wrong but they both suffer from impaired judgement. I will repeat rape is rape but women can avoid some situations like this and PROTECT THEMSELVES from the trauma instead of being a victim. This is no different from the concept of not walking down a dark alley at night. Do not go where you might be robbed or attacked by bad people, drunks, drug addicts, ect. Alcohol is a real problem. It helps to cause bad judgement by both parties. PROTECT YOURSELF and lead a better life. I think that is what Dickinson was trying to say.

Dec 8th 2009 7:36AM Another asinine story from an fool writer. I am not a hardcore religious person but this irks me. The fact is it is called Christmas because it is about Christ. If you want to call it Xmas because you are too lazy or offended then you should not be involved. If you are against religion then you should not celebrate Christmas. You should stay at work on the 25th of December. I am especially irked by government officials and other activists who are against religion but want the days off for Christmas. Any store with a sign that read merry Xmas or happy holidays will not get my business. I am tired of all of the politically correct crap. If anyone disagrees that is fine but stay at work and do not buy any gifts for your children. Christmas is what it is. Embrace it for what it is or not, your choice but remember to go to work and not participate if it offends you so much.

Nov 11th 2009 8:58AM I own a reception/concert/party facility. We have had so many problems with minorities we finially quit having events catered to them, ie hip hop and comedy events with black entertainers. For concerts and parties we had to resort to a metal detector and a dress code. We found out we needed to screen the band members as they were bringing in weapons too. One event we had several thugs show up and rejected then with the dress code. They watched from the parking lot and followed a gold chain wearing guest home. They shot him and almost killed him as they robbed him. Fights at weddings....sure. I have stopped having anything but weddings and I now have security for weddings as well. I am about to close it. I make money but I do not want people to get hurt in my business, it is not worth it. Minorities are the problem ALMOST every time. There is nothing wrong with black people, it is black society that causes the problems.

The bank made an error and there was no crime. Not until they cashed in the account and tried to run off to Florida. You state the bank enticed them to commit a crime.... nope. If someone put money in your account and then asked you to run off that is entrapment. When YOU decide to do it that is theft. These people knew it was wrong, that is why they ran off to Florida.

I do have a problem that if there was a white only magazine there would be riots and condemnation. Black and whites are (or at least should be) equal but we are different. Black people want to celebrate their culture and race and that is ok. But why do so many throw a fit when white people try to celebrate our culture?

Apr 27th 2008 6:48PM Too many people are blaming the restrictor plate racing for this. What you do not understand is NASCAR does not have any better options. Without the restrictor plates the cars could probably hit 215 - 220 (they were doing 210 15 years ago)and there is no way to keep a car with this basic shape on the ground at that speed. Yes, F1, Indycar and prototype cars can go that fast safely but the 4 door family sedan that NASCAR is based on CAN'T be made safe at those speeds. It is not only for the safety of the drivers. If a car went over the fence at that speed it could kill 100 fans. Sorry, we have to choose. Deal with restrictor plate racing or close Talladega and Daytona. I vote for the restrictor plate..

Apr 27th 2008 10:20AM I am amazed anyone could find a way to blame anyone else. Post #24 clearly knows nothing about NASCAR. Dan blames the pack for not looking out for something like this. This is not like interstate merging. There was about 90 mph difference between Lapage and the pack. Most of the drivers can't see a car merging in like this until it is way too late. I am sure Edwards did not see Lepage until the car ahead of him swerved. The lead pack was doing about 190 (not 100) and the rule states NOT to merge onto the track until AFTER turn 2. There is only one dumbass here.... Lapage. He should stand up and say he made a mistake instead of blaming others. Aparently Dan has never driven 190 before and he does not know how sudden everythig happens at these speeds and how completely helpless a driver is to move around on the track when something this stupid happens.
