New airline fee alert: $10 surcharges for flying this holiday season {WalletPop}

Sep 29th 2009 9:54PM American Airlines is offering several hundred million dollars to help Japan Airlines to stay solvent. I thought American was in serious financial trouble itself, but it seems they can scrouge up a couple hundred million to save some foreign airline.

Looks like they will collect the new fee in YEN. Sayonara to my business in the future.

Cheapest food this side of the dumpster: Salvage grocery stores {WalletPop}

Jan 20th 2009 10:00AM I have been to a major upscale candy producer's outlet store and noticed candy that was five years old and being sold. This troubled me and I contacted the candy producer who told me it was perfectly good as long as it had not been opened.

I still feel that it is "buyer beware" and check those expiration dates.

Stereotypes of Tourists, from a British Perspective {Gadling}

Jan 25th 2007 8:38PM I agree that American tourists are pushy, ignorant of local customs and cultures, demanding and expect something for nothing.

I have traveled extensively throughout the world, both independently and with groups, and I find that alot of the people I have traveled with have little patience, have no concept of the history and culture of the nations they visit and complain that "things are sure not like this back home", when they are faced with situations they do not understand.

At times I feel ashamed of the "Ugly American" face that we sometimes show to others.
