May 11th 2010 11:13AM It si true that fluorescent lightbulbs contain a minuscule amount of mercury. If the bulb is powered by a coal-fired power plant, the mercury in the coal that is saved over a standard light bulb is MUCH greater than the mercury in the bulb.

Nobody ever says, "This is what a long form birth certificate looks like. Now show us Obama's." The reason, I suppose, is that there is no such thing as a "long form birth certificate". The Christmas story in Luke seems to imply that it did not take place in December; shepherds would not have been in the field at night at that time. December 25th was chosen because it was the time of the Roman Saturnalia, since (1) this was traditionally a happy holiday in the Roman world and (2) Christians were usually relatively safe during this time, even times of persecution, because the pagans were occupied with their holicay. Christmas was considered a very minor holiday in the early church, not to be compared with Easter and Pentecost.
