Jan 22nd 2012 5:04PM Well stated. D.C. (inside of the beltway) used to have the highest murder rated in the USA, even surpassing S. Chicago and S. Detroit.
Jan 22nd 2012 5:02PM Weed really isn't the product that is driving the Cartels.
One thing is certain; USA use and demand for drugs is what is fueling the crime on the border.
Jan 22nd 2012 4:59PM As long as there is a consumer market for the drugs, they will flow North from Mexico, Central and South America or South through Canada.
What we are doing to stop the flow of drugs is simply not working; I don't have a soluton (other than trying to get our USA population to reduce or eliminate their use of illegal drugs) but what we are doing is a total waste of time, money and lives.
Jan 22nd 2012 4:52PM As a person who has gone to Mexico hundreds of times in the past 35 years (wife was born in Mexicali), I can tell you that I WILL NOT cross the border again any time soon. I was pulled over 500 feet from where I entered the road from my hotel at 1 am as I was going to get my wife from her mom's house. The uniformed cop in a marked police car told me that my fine was $300. I speak a bit of Spanish and told him, "let' go to the police station". He promptly pulled his gun and pulled the hammer back. I took all of my money from my money clip (probably $500) and handed it to him and promptly went back to my hotel and called my wife and told her to take a taxi.
Juarez is 6 miles from my house in El Paso and I wouldn't go down there for any reason. I imagine Tijuana is also out-of-control.
Peru and Columbia warned Mexico 10 years ago that they were in danger of losing their governments if the Cartels ever got hold. Every border crossing town is completely infiltrated by the drug trafficing industry. You can spot the mayors, police and government folks that have cooperated, the are the one's still alive.
Jun 14th 2011 5:32PM "lived" should have read "loved"
Jun 14th 2011 5:31PM I honestly hope that Charlie Sheen can get his life back together. I lived Two-and-a-Half men and thought he did a great job at it. I'll watch his new show but if it just a stage for his continuing burn-out, I'll probably turn it off.
There are never enough "2nd chances"; some can straighten out with just a few and others never make it back to sanity.
Good luck Charlie, I'll tune in and give you another chance.
May 26th 2011 10:57PM Outstanding!!! I have taught Human Sexuality for nearly 25 years and can tell you that a lot of damage is done by panic on the part of parents and doctors when a baby is born with ambiguous sexual features. The tendency is to jump in and do surgery to "assign" a gender (normally female). The problem is that the brain knows for sure what the gender really is and the doctors and parents run the risk of improper gender assignment. It ISN'T a medical emergency; wait until the child grows up and can tell you which gender matches how they feel in their brain.
Just my opinion and, like Dennis Miller I could be wrong.
May 13th 2011 6:04PM Outstanding choice. I think Charley Sheen was perfect since he actually seemed to play himself in the series.
I think Ashton will change the character somewhat but I am certainly going to watch and see what happens.
People need to research this alleged "torpedo of stupid" Chuck Lorre; he is a genius of a writer that has been behind many successful shows, including 2 1/2 Men. I am for keeping an open mind and giving the show a chance. We'll see if Ashton can survive the Pilots.
Mar 30th 2011 10:55PM Please go online and get all of the facts before condemning this "whale" (really not a whale). The captive animals perform doing behaviors that are normal to them in the wild; I don't believe that Tilikum was doing a kill behavor.
People come to see these shows, auto races, bull fights and similar entertainment due to the possibility of danger.
I would favor returning Tilium (if it is possible) to a Pod in the wild and not use this animal for entertainment.
Sep 21st 2010 4:33PM I know that your racist comments were not meant to be serious.
I spend a lot of time on the road driving the I-5 corridors through places like LA. I have noticed that when people will leave a few car lengths to allow for fluctuations in speed that traffic zips right along.
We all know what happens when you creat that gap; for or five knot heads will zip in and then back out again in a few more yards.
