Smut bust at Sweden's airport authority: 7 fired, 1 quit {Gadling}

May 7th 2009 1:35PM I find it hilarious how you never hear about the great catches or good things TSA officers do. I guess that wouldn't make good news. I work for TSA and we are not all uneducated, power hungry, idiots as so many people assume. Most of us are good, hard working people, who are just doing our jobs. A job that many of us believe has a higher purpose than what's seen on the surface. The job is harder than you think and passengers attitudes and comments don't make it easier or make us nicer. It's funny how you'll hear on every news form about the nipple ring woman, who btw ASKED for the pilers herself (but of course it's TSA's fault), but you'll never hear about the white teenage boy TSA officers caught who was planning to hijack a plane down south. And you'll never hear about the many knives and guns TSA officers find each day throughout the country. But God forbid we take away your toothpaste or pat you down and it's a federal crime. You'll never hear about the many passengers who have hurt, abused and injured TSA officers during the screening process. Kicking them in the face, throwing things at them, biting them, where are those news reports? I find it funny how it's ok to take off your shoes at pools, water parks, shoe stores in the mall, amusement parks and such, but to do it at the airport to walk 10 feet for the sake of security it's all of a sudden disgusting and annoying. I don't get it. TSA and it's officers are not perfect, we will miss things. We have bad days and sometimes make bad decisions. We are human beings. All we ask is for you to treat us as such. It's our job to protect you from those who seek to harm and those who may harm unknowingly. We have a job to do and the job comes first, but if you'll remember to treat us with respect, we'll do the same.

United crew - it's time to serve drinks to the idiots in coach {Gadling}

Feb 27th 2009 9:16PM All I see are messages insulting air crew, calling them "uneducated waitresses". Passengers say horrible things about flight attendants and crew (and they do hear you), do you think it's ok to insult them without them insulting you back? There are just doing thier jobs, you are the demanding, spoiled brats that complain about everything. Same thing goes for TSA, just people doing thier jobs and passengers say the most horrible things to them and about them. You don't know them, you don't know where they come from, how much education they have or what thier personality is like. If they are rude, maybe they are just having a bad day. Or maybe they are fed up with dealing with passengers who have no respect for them or thier jobs. Just because you pay a fee doesn't mean you can treat the people who are there to help and protect you like crap servants. Have some respect and they will show you respect in return. And don't judge until you've walked a mile in thier shoes.

MP3 Player Assures You Will Never Fly Again {Asylum}

Jan 31st 2009 5:43AM People who have a problem with airport secuirty are stupid. They are ones who cause lines to be longer and make the officers angry with thier bad attuides and mistreatment. They have no idea what they are doing when going through security and waste everyones time.

If you really think no one will try to hijack a plane again, WAKE UP! It's been tried several times since 9/11. And they are testing airport security everyday. Remember you will never hear about the good things, you will only hear the bad. No cared when TSA stopped terrorists from blowing up 13 planes with sealed soda bottles filled with liquid explosives, but everyone cared when about the stupid nipple ring (which the woman was NOT "forced" to remove, she's the one who asked for the pilers)it's so stupid. Maybe we should just do away with airport security and hope and pray that we or one of our loved ones aren't on the next plane that flys into a building.

Hanson Bro Fires the One Finger Salute {TMZ}

Oct 29th 2008 11:57PM Before Hanson's Oct. 25th sold-out Poughkeepsie, NY concert, 260 people of all ages both male and female showed up to walk a barefoot mile in the rain. And if you know poughkeepsie, that wasn't easy. But we did it because we truly believe in and support Hanson's cause.

Hanson has done what other bands couldn't, they have stayed true to thier roots, only played the music they really believed in and have kept a huge fan base when the music industry tried to keep them down. Those who talk about "they're back" or "what have they been up to?" have no idea what they're talking about and sound ignorant when they put them down as no talent losers. Do your reasearch before you speak.

I've been to 5 Hanson shows in the last year and half and every one has been sold out. I've been on 2 walks and Hanson just met thier 1st goal to supply 250 HIV positive mothers in Africa with health care for them and thier childern. They are also almost done building a well for clean drinking and have personally gone to Africa and put shoes on the feet of countless childern with none.

I completely understand why Taylor would give this guy the bird or Zac wouldn't answer his questions because he was an ass! He apporached the guys with this "Your nothing more than 90's pop garbage" attitude and that's how he was treated. If you're going to do a report on someone, know who you're reporting on before going and asking them stupid questions. If Mmmmbop is the only Hanson song you know, that's just sad. And if you think they disappeared or left the music buisness you're wrong. They have put out 5 albums, a chirstmas album and serveral EP's. Thier 1st album after creating thier own record company remains one of the highest grossing self-released albums in music history.

Visit Hanson.net or Takethewalk.net for more Hanson info.

Product review - Tom Bihn Checkpoint Flyer TSA friendly laptop bag {Gadling}

Oct 7th 2008 11:33PM It's not always TSA officers lack of training, it's passengers lack of understanding of our policies and rules that cause for so must confusion. For instance, do you have any idea how many passenger heard you no longer have to take out your laptops and leave them in thier bags now? Did they bother to read about the checkpoint friendly bags or do you even know why your laptop needs to be run without obstruction? No, no one cares. No one listens. No one reads. It wastes time and it's frustrating for both of us.

Just like the liquids ban. I think it's a stupid rule to begin with (all liquids should be banned) but it doesn't matter if you agree with it or not, to follow the very simple 3.4oz rule is easy. And yes, as a TSA officer I'll admit we do let some things go we shouldn't, both on purpose and not. We are human and we will miss things. If you knew what we see on an X-ray screen you might understand.

Oh and next time a TSA officer looses thier patience with you, remember they probably just got cursed out, threatend, or challenged by another passenger for the 100th time that day (just for doing thier job and trying to protect the public, it happens daily, even when we're nice) and are tired of people who make a very simple process complicated because they can't read the 40 signs in the cue line that explain what to do. If you respect me, I'll respect you. And I'm always nice until you give me a problem, unless the person before you cursed me out over toothpaste, then I'll probably be in a bad mood.

When your bag gets selected for a bag check, stop leaning over the machine or table and telling me it's a cellphone or Ipod or GPS. Unless, it's laying at some weird angle, 99% of time it's none of the above. Everyone travels with that stuff, we know what they look like.

Sorry for the venting, but I'm so tired of everyone blaming TSA officers for the problems at the checkpoint. We don't make the rules, we just inforce them. If you knew what goes on behide the scenes, you wouldn't be so judgmental. Our rules might seem crazy to you, but most are there for a reason. You may think a bottle of contact solution or shampoo or water is harmless, but a simple 8oz bottle of "water" has caused fatal damage aboard an aircraft in the recent past.

It's frustrating how clueless people are of the dangerous and creative ways "those who seek to harm" are comming up with to hurt us. And most times it's not the terrorists or criminals we need to worry about. It's the man who thinks it's ok to smuggle a load of fireworks in his suitcase. The crazy guy who left his loaded gun in his briefcase. Or the woman carrying Lye for no explained reason. We see and hear about the damage common passengers have caused when not trying to.

Bottomline: Security is a two-way process and we need to work together to be successful.

TSA roughs up woman, faces $10 million excessive force lawsuit {Gadling}

Jul 12th 2008 10:16PM Looks to me like the TSA officer told her something she didn't want to hear and she got upset. Probably started yelling, cursing and verbaling abusing him. It happens very often. He called for his supervisor and when he couldn't claim her down, he called for the police. It looks like the police asked her nicely to have a sit in the chair and this woman very rudely ignored her and turned her back to the officer. It was then that they forced her to sit in the chair and she resisted arrest.

Honestly, it's about time someone did something about these passengers who think they can say anything they want to airport authorty. She was way too close to the TSA officer and was probably making him nervous and add that to her rude attitude, verbal abuse and inability to coropporate, that's cause to call the police. She obviously didn't want to listen to them either, so she got what she deserved.

What I don't understand is why she's suing TSA. Oh yeah I do...TSA is blamed for everything. It was the police who (rightly) threw her in the chair, but because it took place at the checkpoint, it's TSA's fault. You see the TSA officer (the one in white) did nothing to this woman. Yet, TSA has to take the blame again. I'm sick of it.

TSA officers are normal and for the most part nice people who are frustrated, angry, annoyed and down right tired of being disrespected, ignored and abused by passengers who think they have the right to yell, curse, scream, hit and throw things at them because they can't remember to put thier toothpaste in thier checked baggage.

If you can't follow the rules and can't be nice, don't except things to go your way.

Too young for a knee replacement? {That's Fit}

Apr 18th 2008 5:26PM I got a total hip replacement when I was 12 years old. It's a hard thing to do, when you have to have it too young. They wanted me to wait, but I was immobile as is and didn't want to live my life in a wheelchair. Most people don't know I have it now, and I'm normal, expect for occasional pain. But I know that eventually one day I will be crippled. You can only have it done several times in a lifetime and when you get too young you where down your joints more. I've had mine for 10 years and was told I'll need another one within the next 5 years. So if I can only get it re-done 3 times in my lifetime and I have to get a new one every 15 years. By the time I'm 60, I'll be crippled. Anyway, 40 is not too young by far, but it will difficult.

New TSA Blog Fields Complaints About Airport Security {Switched.com}

Feb 4th 2008 10:42AM I'm tired of people who complain about security searching the eldery, disabled and being rude. If you really think terrorists or others who plain to harm aren't going to use eldery, childern and the disabled to get the job done, YOU'RE WRONG!! It has happened and I'm sure it will happen again. Just this week terrorists strapped IED vests to 2 mentally disabled women, pushed them into a building and blew them up. Do you think they wouldn't do they same to an airplane if security decided all elderly people, disabled people and childern need not be searched. A while ago a father put a knife in his one year old daughters shoe to get it past security thinking it wouldn't be searched. They found it of course. Or the 65 year old terrorist who blew himself up. God, the list could go on forever. Yet, people only see a feeable old women or innocent child and assume they are good. And hey, if we knew what the terrorist looked like the job would be easier wouldn't it. Now, as for security officers beings rude, it goes both ways. If you went to work and did your job and then every 15 mintues you had someone comming in yelling at you, telling you how stupid you are, how horrible you are, what a waste of time your job is, and cursing you out. I think you'd be in a bad mood too. Passengers only see things from one side, they never see how absolutely horrible, disrepectful and mean they are to screeners. Oh, and half the stuff you accuse them of stealing, you've either left behind or lost yourself. Because when it comes to security no body misplaces things anymore, it's always someonebody stole it. Grow up!
