Apr 23rd 2010 6:05AM If Amtrak had any kind of sense it would be out there with deals galore because folks are fed up with flying. Unless i have to be somewhere in a hurry i will find alternate means of transportation. Unfortunately for me i travel a lot from georgia to northern california and the train is too many transfers and too much money. If train travel again became popular and reasonable i believe many people would choose the train over the overpriced sardine flights.

Jul 23rd 2009 8:53AM How a travel industry can justify charging for baggage is beyond comprehension. The one thing it has forced people to do is to do more carry-on which is a pain for travelers with disabilities, aged, or having small children, as you must stand in the small aisle forever while 100 people try to stow overstuffed bags into the overhead storage. That cargo space is there in the planes whether folks check baggage or not. Unfortunately i live in an area not serviced by jet blue or southwest so i am forced to pay the additional fees. I also find it is cheaper to mail a box to my destination (if it is family or friends) than to pay for additional bags.

Do you know how old Obama was in 1969? hello? have you lost your darn mind? have you researched all the good things he has done in his career? Do you really think the republican party has your interests at heart, unless you are very wealthy? Do you really want sarah palin to be your president if mccan't is elected and dies in office. now there is really a scary thought. Did you watch her interview with Charles Gibson, did you not see she did not answer one question he asked? She danced around them all and plain old didn't know what the bush doctrine was. Very scary! Outside of being a pow, like many, many others were in the vietnam fiasco, and voting with bush over 90% of the time (you see where that has gotten us, hope you have your money someplace secure) what has mccan't have to offer us. more of the same. no thanks.

The final straw for me was when Shirlwey MacClain was a guest and Elizabeth kept asking her a question she obviously could not (for whatever reason) answer. It was so inappropriate and significantly highlighted her inability to respect a guest. It was apparent to me that she was trying to embarrass her for not being able to answer the question, which she restated 3 times. Shame on her i love the show, but would really be happy to see her go!

Instead step up to these oil companies who are artificially inflating costs and in the meantime experiencing unheard of profits, quarter after quarter after quarter. Tax those gougers and see how quickly the cost drops. you have to have your head stuck in the sand not to be aware of what bush and his crew have done to this country and the people who live here.
