Glenn Beck Boycott: Censorship or Good Citizenship? {Politics Daily}

Everglades to be put back on U.N. endangered list? {Gadling}
Jul 3rd 2009 8:23PM Sonny - Your right wing is showing ... The UN does many things which require international cooperation such as UNICEF and other food programs, providing medical and guardian assistance to nations under duress not only from war but also natural disasters, and many more, including the establishment of World Heritage Sites which are respected world-wide. They are not "anti-US" - we're an active participant. Secondly, the Everglades stretches from Orlando to Everglades City - about 400 miles - so you're 50 miles from what part? The Glades are a treasure and I, for one, am very glad the President holds this beautiful place in much higher esteem than the greedy, evil Bushies.
Croatia bans tourists from arriving with their own food; Czechs are outraged {Gadling}
Jun 8th 2008 12:20PM My family had a business in a tourist area in a northern state. People would come in motor homes, dragging boats and cars, park in public parks, use the water and bathrooms there but spend virtually nothing in the community. If they "had" to buy something (milk, gas, bread, soda) they complained bitterly about the price (same as in the city) and aledged businesses were "gouging" the tourists. The town tried to pass a "no parking overnight in parks" law but it was completely ignored by the "visitors." One of the town cops was even assaulted by an illegal parker. So I completely understand the Croatian dilemma.
What our little town finally did was to shut off the public water in the parks, charge boat ramp fees for non-residents and charge steep parking fees at the parks for motor homes. The visitors finally went somewhere else and tourism actually improved in our town.
My5 Power Plate, Another Way to Vibrate Yourself Skinny {Luxist}
Jan 1st 2007 1:11PM I've been doing some information searches about these machines because I had to be on systemic prednisone for years and three years ago was hospitalized on bedrest for 2-1/2 months and lost a lot of large muscle mass as a result of both. I have COPD and have to be careful not to get hypoxic when I exercise. A fitness trainer suggested I check these out because they are not as rapidly oxygen depleting as other muscle mass exercise techniques.
The technology was originally developed by the Russian space program for use by astronauts and, according to one source I've read, are still used in combination with other systems on the space station.
It's not a get-thin system but rather like isometrics, a way to make the muscles work. I think it's unreasonable to assume you can stand on this and eat brownies and still get thin. My hope is it'll help rebuild my large muscles to make my other workouts more effective and less exhausting.
Happy New Year to all.
