Homeless College Students Feel Stress of the Economy {ParentDish}
Jan 8th 2011 4:09PM At the rate of sounding harsh, college is a choice. You can get a job to pay for a place to live and take part time courses instead of choosing to be homeless and attend school full time. Or is it that grant money comes to those with the lowest income?
NOW Sues Hooters {Lemondrop}
Dec 22nd 2010 9:07AM No one is forcing anyone to take children to Hooters, nor are they forcing anyone to PURCHASE the bib with the phrase. While the children may not have a choice of going to Hooters or wearing the attire - it is the adult's judgement call and not that of Hooters. Lawsuits over questionable judgement when a child has not been physically harmed in any way should not have merit. It is a waste of time and dollars in an already over taxed legal system.
AC/DC Bassist Cliff Williams Lists Two Homes {Luxist}
Oct 19th 2010 2:56PM He bought the developer's former Florida home in the same neighborhood earlier this year for 5.1 million dollars. The developer of Gulf Harbor was the one and same developer of W.C.I. Properties which just emerged from Chapter 11 this year.
Chatting With the Winner of The Next Food Network Star {Slashfood}
Aug 17th 2010 12:59PM I too am disappointed with Aarti's win. Both Tom and Herb hit it out of the park with their shows. Tom had great easy food that I would make on a weeknight in a New York minute and Herb made me want to try new things. As for Indian cuisine, if I want it ... I will go out for dinner. It is usually an inexpensive fun night out with friends. To me her win was just another P.C. show for Food Network.
T-Shirt Says to "Eat Less" {That's Fit}
Jun 5th 2010 10:56PM I lost weight by eating less and working out, imagine that! It is a funny and true shirt. I sincerely hope this shirt becomes available on Cafe Press or another outlet as it is one that will sell well in this scary PC driven world. If someone is offended by the message maybe a good look in the mirror is a good place to start looking for why you are upset before shooting the messenger.
AOL Mystery Flyer: American Airlines Report Card {AOL Travel News}
May 13th 2010 10:21AM it stuns me to see how often gate agents are abused by customers. You would be stunned how few people use the words please and thank you when addressing the agent and a smile and the use of the agent's first name is almost a miracle. Here is what I usually hear from others while I am waiting in line, "give me, get me, I want, I need, you need to do this for me NOW ... " I find some simple human decency goes a long way with anyone in a customer service position. I treat others how I would like to be treated. Say "Hello Donna/Jim. How are you today? I understand you are very busy but I have a problem and was wondering if you could help me with it. If you can't, it's no big deal but I would appreciate any help you could give me." Trust me - this goes much further than "I need a seat change NOW." I have had more flights and seats changed while others told me it wouldn't be possible because the gate agent was such a b*&ch.
The same also can be said for your flight attendant. Say hello. Don't expect them to act like your server in a 5 star restaurant. Their job is to get you from point A to point B safely and if weather permits give you your stupid beverage. Don't complain to them about the prices of alcoholic drinks or the fact you have to pay for a snack now, they don't set company policy. Instead ask for the e-mail address of the airline's CEO or Customer Service - you know ... the proper place to complain, kind of like the store manager, not the sales clerk or stocker.
All in all get over yourselves and learn how to be kind. It is not all about you. Do you always act so rude or is it just when it involves flying?
Finally -- a Model Who Looks Like Us! {Lemondrop}
Feb 19th 2010 11:06PM I am a bit in the middle of all of this. First, we women do read fashion magazines to see the latest styles which, of course, look better on slimmer bodies. It is a fact of life. Secondly, you cannot fill a magazine full of "Page 194" women as that is not what everyone wants to see when reading such a fashion magazine. As being someone who once was heavy and yo-yo dieted, I realized it took an entire life change to get to my ideal weight and size. Is it easy? No. Is it fun? No. Is it the best thing I could have done for my health? Absolutely. I get tired of hearing that the "Average" size of American women is on the rise. The definition of average is the high and low added together and finding the middle point - our average is getting higher because our higher end is getting higher, not the lower getting lower. Why don't you make it a goal for yourself to be below average - for once it's not a bad place to be.
Ad Rant: The 10 worst ads of the decade {WalletPop}
Dec 28th 2009 10:51PM Quite frankly all of these commercials were pretty funny. This country has taken P.C. way too far. At what point will all commercials be a black and white UPC code for the product with no music because it might offend someone, no verbal announcer because we're not sure which voice might be offensive, no visuals of the product because not everyone likes said product so it really cannot be shown as it might visually assault someone. If you don't like it ... change the channel.
Bizarre Greeting Cards for Any Occasion, Part 2 {Asylum}

Leaving Verizon Wireless to get more expensive Nov. 15 {WalletPop}
Nov 5th 2009 12:09AM Before you trash Verizon about your replacement phone do you recall who you made the claim through? Assurion is the problem! Yes, the insurance provider for replacement phones. They have nothing to do with Verizon and they are the provider for many mobile carriers. You most certainly did not call Verizon past the initial call to get the number for Assurion. Once the claim was filed, you dealt with Assurion not Verizon. I have had Verizon for twenty years and had amazing customer service, reception, fair billing practices. Based on the amount of complaints my friends have from other carriers I consider myself lucky to have Verizon.
