Woman Quiets Catcalls By Stripping Down {Asylum}
May 26th 2008 3:59PM Actually, in Spain and Mexico, it is concidered an insult to a woman if she isn't 'cat called' by groups of men as she passes. If a woman passes a group of men and they don't 'cat call' her, they are insulting her by indirectly stating that she is unattractive and not worth their attention. So, America's view of 'cat calls' and other cultures' views of it can be very different. So, we should never be culturally ignorant and automatically insist that a 'cat call' is simply an annoyance or unwanted attention. Feel thankful for the attention you get, because some women dont even get a second glance.
5 skin care myths {That's Fit}
Sep 17th 2007 7:34PM I actually have acne prone skin and have found that frequent surface exfoliation all over my body in the shower helps to reduce the break outs in many ways- also, changing your pillow case every night.
A great (cheap!) scrub to make that doesn't cause you to break out is 1 cup olive oil to 1/2 -2/3 cup white sugar.
I just mix it up in a sandwich bag & bring it into the shower with me. (If it gets on your hair it also adds a wonderful luster too!)
What is it that makes people sexy? {That's Fit}
Aug 17th 2007 12:24AM I hate to say it, but I am a HUGE status girl.. and looks count too. Although, a guy with a great personality is one of the best finds ever. They usually last longer too. But with this whole "youthful appearence" thing... I have huge dark brown eyes and high cheekbones w/big lips.. it gets me compliments but because of my generally timid personality, it doesn't do too much for me. I think that confidence is key.. sexy is confident.. it helps lots.. since I improved on that, lots of guys look my way. Even people who some might consider "average joes" might become "prince charmings" with a little confidence.
Boob jobs need love too {Stylelist}
Jun 14th 2007 6:09PM Well, also, some girls have unique shapes that are real but need a different size to accomidate their shape. I happen to be a non-existant bra size (30-32 D) that no one seems to make. In fact, I was measured in Victoria's secret and they were puzzled to try to find a bra that fit right seeing as how the 32s were baggy around the ribs and the straps would fall down after being tightened all the way. So, even though I am completely real, it has been such a struggle for a small and skinny girl to find bras for bustier girls in that size. So, if this is in any way a solution to that problem, I fully welcome it!
Romp & Circumstance: Miss America Is Alive and Well in Las Vegas {Vegas Popular Blog}
Jan 27th 2007 10:08PM It is true that America is losing interest in Beauty Pagents. Even though the raving mothers and contestants are still involved in every aspect of it. But, doesn't this have to do with how society is changing? Maybe its about how reality shows such as "The swan" brought a new eye to how plastic society is becoming, and this only made us look with disgust at beauty competitions that only leave young girls feeling "unworthy" or "ugly". Well, I'm a young girl, I'm not one who thinks anything like "I'm such a fat pig!" or "Omg! I hate my nose.. Its SO GROSS!" and I seriouly try to keep my friends from saying such things. But trying to tell them that when such shows as beauty competitions air on tv or when magazines plaster pictures of the "Ideal" American girl in all thier pages becomes really hard. I read that it was the Ancient Romans who first put prestige in beauty. They made all thier sculptures perfected and modeled them off of the beautiful. They were also the first to view blonde hair as an asset.
Since then, everywhere you go, beauty plays a role in everyone's lives. No mention of beauty being "only skin deep" seems to even help the problem.
It hurts me to see my friends suffer so much or feel bad about their body image because of society deeming them "ugly".
So why would shows like this air on tv? Simply because of the money involved- people's obsession in looks and beauty helps fund these types of shows. And however unlikely this might be, if society changed, we might all be better off.
