Video Guide to Whistler {Gadling}
Jan 7th 2007 1:50AM With all the talk about the lack of snow in eastern North America and Europe, it's worth noting that both Whistler and Mt. Baker (see earlier post) have nearly obscene amounts of snow. Whistler has 27' and counting!
Even the smaller Vancouver hills have about 10' of the white stuff. See the Flickr Gadling group and Bluepeak.net for proof. So for anyone on snow withdrawal, this is the corner of the globe to be in!

Dec 17th 2006 2:21AM I took the photo in the village of Toencha in the remote Lunana district on the Snowman trek. There are no stores in the entire valley, so popping over to the store to buy some sugar means at least a 2-3 day walk, over a 5,200m (17,000') pass! The mountain in the background is Table Mountain (7,100m/23,500'). See http://www.bluepeak.net/gallery/Bhutan/trekking/thanza-and-table-mountain.jpg.html for an image of the mountain, http://www.trekkinginbhutan.com/trekking/snowman.html for more information on the snowman trek, and http://www.bluepeak.net/bhutan/ for additional photos.

Dec 14th 2006 10:45PM I guess I should give some background to the photo. Pool is pretty popular in Mongolia, even in the middle of the Gobi desert, it seems. I found the table near a "guanz" (roadside restaurant), housed in a yurt by the side of the "road" (ie, dirt track). A patron clearly thought the table would make a good place to hitch his ride while having lunch!
