Buying a cell phone for the nanny {ParentDish}
Dec 23rd 2007 11:04AM I LOVE the idea of making it "Nolan's" cell phone that you keep with his things -- I sort of wish *I'd* thought of that myself (particularly in Trinidad, where our nanny had three phones, none of which ever seemed to be on her, or were "out of batteries or money" at any given time). Your commenters gave you great advice on this one!

Kill your TV. OK, just your cable. {ParentDish}
Dec 12th 2006 11:46AM Julie, it's like you took the words out of my head. We haven't had cable in our house for 5 years, and while I let my daughter watch DVDs (hand picked by my husband and I), save for Sesame Street, she doesn't watch any television. For me, it's not just the shows that sometimes offend me, but the constant ADVERTISING. Clearly, we were sold to when we watched television as children, but I don't remember it being as incessant or intense. But what do I know -- I was just a kid.
Anyway, just another person yelling "hear, hear!" from the crowd.

Dry climate baby woes {ParentDish}
Dec 11th 2006 8:11AM Eucerin is good but I SWEAR BY CETAPHIL for my daughter's eczema. Eucerin can be really hard to "spread," if you know what I mean, but Cetaphil works like a charm. Plus, there's no fragrance, which could irritate the redness.
Good luck!
