Give Gifts at the Office ... Without Looking Like a Brown-Noser {Lemondrop}

Dec 2nd 2008 5:25AM Happy Chanukah to all!!! While I do agree with you all that no I, nor anyone, has the right to censor you from saying "Merry Christmas" , I do disagree with a few things many of you have also said. I have never met anyone in my life that has responded positively to my "Happy Chanukah" in response to someone wishing me a "Merry Christmas". Apparently I haven't met anyone on AOL or something... The only time I have a major problem with receiving a "Merry Christmas" is when someone is obviously ignorant and cannot see that I am wearing either my star of david necklace, which is not that small, or another piece of obvious apparel or jewlery... I mean come on....

Cubicle War Is Hell -- The Greatest Office Pranks {Asylum}

Oct 8th 2008 3:43PM I'll admit it... I have pulled the Oreo and toothpaste gag on some friends last April Fools Day. 6/7 people I pulled it on fell for it and laughed vowing never to trust another Oreo from me again. The other person had seen the prank on the internet the night before and knew what I was up to, haha. I wouldn't pull this type of stuff in an office setting, but a dorm... pranks are an everyday occurrence, haha!

Why do airlines board in such a strange order? {Gadling}

Nov 19th 2007 9:48AM Ok for the person who suggested getting rid of carry ons.... do you never take anything valuable with you?! I am constantly flying, and I often take such items with me such as jewlery and my laptop and medications. These are items that if placed in luggage under the aircraft that if lost, the airline will not pay you to recover your losses. And I am not going to pay to store myself in the overhead compartment, airlines have already started to nickel and dime you to death on board, and people would not have to bring so many items on board inthe cabin if the airlines provided such items such as blankets and food for free again...

Censoring Santa: Sydney says no, no, no to Ho, Ho, Ho {BloggingStocks}

Nov 15th 2007 10:31PM This goes to all those who are saying "screw p.c. merry christmas to all, etc..." I am one of those people who does not like it when I am told merry christmas, as i do not believe christianity to be "truthful". How would you like it if i went around instead saying "Happy Chanukkah"... which is exactly what i do, and often people get offended by that, and chances are you would be offended by that if that is what you heard... so lay off... Happy Chanukkah to all!!!

HALLE BERRY: Back Pedaling Out of Alleged Anti-Semitic Slur {BV Newswire}

Oct 23rd 2007 7:54PM I have mixed feelings about this. Being Jewish I have made plenty of "big nose" jokes. However, to me its one of those things thats like "ok" to say if its your own culture, but not someone else. Just like other people have said, if it had been a white person making a black joke people wouldn't be laughing. So while I do not see it as a big big deal, and there are worse things happening in the world, I am still a little irked by it.

Nickelodeon tells kids to turn off the TV, go outside and play {That's Fit}

Oct 4th 2007 12:38PM While I think this is a great idea, there is sooo much more that can/needs to be done. It is not just television these days that has kids cramped up all day inside instead of playing outside. The stress on children to perform academically and the increase in homework has significantly impacted how much time children have to play.
I remember when I was in elementary school (really not too long ago, I am only 21 now) how my mother used to not believe the amount of homework I was receiving. Every night there was math, science, english, foreign language, religion, history, etc. All due the very next day. School started at 7:55am and went until 3:35pm. Then I was home by 4 as long as mom had no errands to run with us, a small snack and then homework started at 4:15. Dinner was around somewhere between 5 and 6 , and bed time was 8:30. There just wasn't enough time to come home and play.

Even the weekends were packed with homework, as well as spending time with family, birthday parties, etc. We got in as much playtime outside as possible, and living in Los Angeles that meant we could be out pretty much all year, minus days the smog level was too high or their was a heat advisory, which encompasses much of the time between June and October.

Also the thought of staying outside unsupervised, even when living in a nice neighborhood, is a little unnerving and absurd with all the cases of mysterious child abduction and murder cases we hear about today, and, we don't hear about every case.

Parents are also becoming more over protective over what activities their children can do for fear they might get hurt. Anything that might even scratch a child these days is feared and is seen by many to be something that needs to be stayed away from.

I think that what Nick did is awesome, and had I been little I probably would have gone outside for a bit, but then I may have come back in and watched a different channel. For something like this to work, I think all children's programming should have been suspended for the afternoon on all networks. This event is aimed at awareness I believe more so then a long term solution.

I think the biggest pay off is to just teach children how to eat healthy and stay active. It should be all about staying healthy as a whole. Parents need to help their children make smart choices. There are loads of easy ways to do so. And today there are many compromises that can be made for sweets, and, even then, a treat every so often is not the worst thing in the world.

I think I am now going to get off the computer and go toss around a Frisbee with some friends in the quad!

Guilty Displeasures {AOL Food Blog}

Sep 13th 2007 10:07PM hmm...i think the only thing that truly creeps me out, are the gummy snacks creepy crawlers. I was 7 when "the big one" earthquake struck so. cal. and we were forced to go to a shelter for a few nights because we had no food, water, gas, or electricity in the house. They served us hot dogs and creepy crawler gummy snacks.
Earlier in the day for lunch they had served ham and cheese sandwhiches. Being Jewish, ham really isnt on the list of foods I eat, and for about 20 minutes refused to eat it, until my dad was like "this is all they have, eat something", when I reluctantly ate the nasty tasting sandwhich. Then for dinner it was pork hotdogs with the creepy crawlers. After my experience with the ham sandwhich earlier, I put my foot down, and instead ate about 8 packages of gummy snacks instead. Lets just say the lunch+too many gummy snacks+ being scared outta my freaking mind everytime there was an after shock was not a good combo.
therefore to this day the thought of them just brings back some creepy and blech memories.

Prevent ear infections with chewing gum {That's Fit}

Aug 31st 2007 12:04PM Leah... one of the only reasons diet soft drinks can ruin someones diet is that they believe that because they are cutting sugar, carbs, and calories in one place they can make up for it in others.

And about all these artificial things that are like going to cause cancer... at this point prettyt much anythign in moderation is the way to go... this comes from my mother who was a oncology nurse for many many years.

Also, different people react differently to various substances. So the person you described had a reaction...thats not everyone. It would be the same if this was an anadote to the hiccups, and the solution was to eat a tablespoon of peanut butter. For some it would work, and for others like me, I would get a really really bad migraine, and for others I know, it could literally kill them.

DeVito Gets First Crack at Makin' Whoopi on "View" {TMZ}

Aug 28th 2007 5:47PM Rosie was the worst thing to happen to the View. She was so bummed out after losing her own show a few years back, that she was glad to finally be in the limelight again, and tried every oppurtunity she had to be the center of attention. Rosie was good on her own show, but she just couldn't play nice with others. After Rosie appeared on the View, I stopped watching it. Now that she has been "sacked", cause lets face it, she did not ask to leave, she was booted out the door, I have once again happily resumed my watching of this show. I cannot wait to see it Whoopie on the show.
