Cockpit Chronicles: Fly Rio! {Gadling}
Jan 11th 2012 10:44PM I'm a Senior Citizen now and have not flown as pilot (private, single engine, land) in many years. I still remember those flights clearly and miss them.
I cannot count the number of commercial flights I have been aboard. There is still something about waiting for the wheels to leave the ground/the plane begin flying. Before hyjacking came along flying was more fun. I was able to get an introduction to the pilot and crew on a flight from Miami to London. Wonderful experience for a young woman used to flying out of what we affectionatly called "The Grass Airport"(2 grass strips and 1 hard surface runway and all taxi ways were grass/mud) in Cessna 150's, 172's and 182's. To learn to fly above and below the clouds was the greatest thing to happen to me before I was 30. Time marches on and more memories are made.
