Mar 17th 2013 6:40AM So many on here are crowing about the landlord's right to make a tennant leave becvause he has guns. What would you all say if the landlord was making him leave because he found out he was black? How many would defend him then? it's the same thing - Discrimination against something the Constitution allows. Now if he hasn't paid his rent, that changes everything. Then the landlord is within his rights.

Too bad it's abandoned but that makes it even cooler. the 'cannibal' painting is a takeoff of an original by Goya and seems to be always used in film adaptations of Lovecraft's Pickman's model. Don't know if they have any places like this in Pittsburgh but I know my girlfriend woould . . .frownon us going there. ; )

Jan 26th 2012 1:49PM What about the Carter on 43rd? I was sure it would make the list. My girlfriend and I have a long running love/hate relationship with that place. Every year we go to NYC for our annual fix of big city insanity and the Carter is part of the adventure. So far I almost lost my life in an out of control elevator (the hotel maintainence man shorted the panel out while on board with me), Had to climb out the transom into the hall when our door's lock broke and our phone to the lobby was dead (could have starved to death that time) and started what almost became a gang war between the Viet-namese counter staff and the mid-eastern parking garage people over whether I'd get free parking or not. I could go on and on but you get the idea. what a place!
