Oct 31st 2011 4:17PM I wouldnt call 'locals on motorcycles trying to make off with goods from Rallyer's campsites' Bandits unless they were violent - they are just thieves and thieves are everywhere after you get out the EU
Im sure we would have heard about bandits if they existed as my girlfriend is Russian and we stayed with local people nearly every night we were in Mongolia on the rally and we also visited a family near Bayankhongor last year
Still I guess the whole 'Bandit' thing sounds cool.

Me and my girlfriend drove across Mongolia in the 2009 rally, totally on our own and without any convoy and we never heard mention of any bloody bandits
