The civilian government does have control over the military. The civilian government should determine the objective they want the military to take and allow the military to take whatever action they require to meet the objective. If Obama had left Gen McChrystal to his own devices with the support of his commanders, we probably could get out of Afghanistan reasonably soon. Since Obama has told the Afghans and the Taliban when the troops will be leaving, they can either (1) wait until we've cleared the country, or (2), remember the Dunkirk situation at the beginning of WWII, with the Taliban/insurgents/Afghan people hot on our heels.

Once I was late arriving at American Airlines International in Dallas, TX and they had a full crew of customs officials processing us at 10:30 p.m.

Jun 12th 2010 4:30PM I worked as enumerator and crew leader in 1990 and 2000,but i 2000 when they started to train us (late date) on the laptop computers and the instructor from the regional office brought in packages of Skittles (candy sort of like M&M's)for props, I decided that was enough, so I walked out of the class, telling the instructor that she could pick up the computer and turn it in herself.

Dec 28th 2009 8:26AM Jim, I dont have the AMEX card, but I do have 2 cards that charge no annual fees (yet), and I pay them off monthly. They may make money indirectly off me, but I dont have any finance charges. Sometimes that's like almost two months interest free.
Another good thing to do is take advantage of major purchases such as furniture, tv., etc, with their 12 months/3 years interest free. The sign you up with their cards but you dont have to use them. Just pay off the purchases as required.

Dec 8th 2009 10:12AM Joe, I'm in agreement with you. I pay my credit card(S) off before the end of the grace periods. Sometimes I am using their money for almost two months.
Of course, I realize that the merchants up the prices on goods to cover for their credit card transaction fees, but, even cash payers help pay for those costs.
