Car rental companies are up to their old tricks again {WalletPop}
Dec 18th 2008 10:49AM Having worked for a car rental company, it's not so much the actual cost of the gas, it's the time wasted in either haveing to fuel it on premises, or having someone drive down the street. Remember, there is a high cost to have a fueling facility at the rent a car location which only serves your own cars.
We were happier to have the car come back full, it was much easier and took less man hours.
Underground storage tanks are not only expensive, but carry a large liability should they leak.
As far as the person that paid $110 for a car in Miami, shame for not planning ahead. Just like plane flights, you pay dearly for last minute reservations.
